| Puppy want tell when he has potty My pup is 14 weeks old. I work doing the week days and come home for lunch to take him out to potty and stretch. During the time I am at work he does not use the bathroom in his crate. In the evenings I take him outside about every 45 minutes and he goes potty. He is actually doing very well with a slip up every once in a while. My question is how can I get him to let us know he has to use the bathroom. I was carrying him in my arms outside, recently I have been making him walk out of the house. |

| Use bells. Tie a string of sleigh bells with leather lacing. (you can get both at any craft store. I usually find the leather lacing in the children's section). Make a loop at one end and hang it on the door knob. Place some peanut butter on the bottom bell. Whenever you take baby outside, set him on the floor in front of the bells and let him sniff at the bottom bell. When he licks it, the bells will ring. If he does not lick it, gently ring the bottom bell yourself so he can see what you are doing. After the bells are rung, take baby outside to potty and reward him when he goes. Eventually he will associate ringing the bells to going outside to potty and he will ring them himself without you having to put peanut butter on the bottom bell.
