| How to wee wee pad train your puppy? HI! I went and picked out my new baby last night and she will be coming home in February! I already have Gracie but she goes potty outside ONLY. She is a bigger Yorkie and I dont earry about taking her outside in the winter cold to potty but this new baby will be tiny and I think my best choice with her is to wee wee pad train her. Any suggestions on how to train them...(I tried with Gracie and no success)... Thanks!

| My little girl is wee wee pad trained (sort of). When she is in her playpen she is perfect and never has an accident. When she has the run of the house she does make mistakes. My tip....keep your new baby in a small area until she 'gets it' |

| I take both of mine outside to potty, but I am almost positive that if you get a pack of wee wee pads, it will have directions on how to wee wee pad train your puppy on the back of the pack. CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS on your new little one! Can't wait to see pics when you pick her up in February!!!!!!!! |

| I trained Pete by closing off the living room with a baby gate and keeping the wee wee pad in the living room until he wasnt making any mistakes, this way I could keep a close eye on him. Then I would put him on the pad when I thought it was about time and say "go potty", when he did go to the bathroom I would get really excited and love him lots and give him treats. At first he didnt quite get it but after a little while he started understanding that potty on the pad equiled treats, and thats when he started fake peeing (squating even when he didnt have to go) . Pete is now 2yrs old and has a wee wee pad in the bathroom (thank goodness its out of the living room ) since he is on the small side and tends to shiver uncontrollably if its cold out. He does have an accident occasionally but this is usually if the bathroom door was accidentally closed or if its time to clean his pad. Good luck and congrats on the new baby

| Thanks everyone for your advice! I do know that they have instructions on the bags of wee wee pads but sometimes the experienced advice and what others here have done to better move it along is more useful than info on a bag! Just needed some helpful tips! Any advice is appreciated!!!

| That first week, I had to tape the pads to the floor, to keep Venus from playing with them. Once she got used to not being able to play with them, I quit taping them. Some use an X-pen, and a crate in it. If you buy an X pen, make sure its a tall one, cause mine is a climber! Put your pee pad at one end, and toys, food, water, and crate at the other end. Try to use the busiest room in the house so they don't get lonely too. But if it has carpet, put a shower curtain under the X pen! Good luck with your baby in Feb! |
