HELP! 1 year old potty issue My 1 year old is making me CRAZY. She has always been very good at going potty in her "area" ...(we have a place built for her on our condo patio). Anyway, I crate trained (treats, praise etc) her as a puppy and she caught on very fast and was a very good pottier...UNTIL LATELY. NOW She is peeing and pooping EVERYWHERE. I don't understand it. She never does it when we are around her, but if she is alone, and has a chance, she will go where ever she wants. We have a doggie door...which is open ALL the time...so she really has no reason to. I am beside myself because she sleeps with us everynight and she ACTUALLY PEED IN OUR BED. I couldn't believe it. She has never done that before. I don't know what to do. I did try putting her in her back crate at night but she whines and I don't know if she has to go the bathroom...or if she is just mad! So I am up 2 or 3 times a night...like she's a baby again. It's ridiculous! Anyway, can anyone help? My condo is starting to smell like a litter box!!!! I hope she isn't in a habit I can't break her of. I'm not sure what I did wrong!! HELP!!

Well, if you're sure it's nothing medical, I would just let her cry in the crate a few nights. She is old enough to make through the night. I say all this because I just got my year old (next week) back in his crate at night, too, cause he would pee on the floor at night and wake us up early. The first night he cried & barked for while. The next week or so he would wake me up at 4am and I would get up and take him potty. Then the dog trainer told me that he could easily make it to at least 6. So I "shushed" him at the 4ams and the last few days, he has slept to about 5:30 to 6! I know it's hard to ignore them, but it helps to know that they really can make it through the night at this age. Good luck

I'd take her for a vet check make sure she's ok. Sometimes they do get bladder infections, stuff like that. I'd do that before I started back on crate training, since she was doing so well...then all of a sudden this.

| Definately go to the vet. Could be a UTI or incontinence. Loki has nighttime incontinence which is being controlled with medication he takes twice a day. It's cheap and smells like meat so I don't have to hide it in anything. He eats it like a treat. We went crazy for a couple months trying to figure out why he was waking up wet until one day he was laying with me on the couch completely dry then 5 minutes later soaking wet all while completely asleep. That's the day we finally called the vet. Also - Have YOU changed anything? Has your routine changed? Have you changed the furniture? Stopped giving her treats for going outside? Anything?

I haven't changed anything that I know of. I am working from home so I am with her most of the time. I never thought of going to the vet for a possible UTI BECAUSE she is also "pooping" inside when I am not looking!!! I put her in her crate last night and she cried at about 4 am...I left her whine until she stoppes and then about 6:30 she was up and dying to get out, so we went and did her business.....THEN .......I went to pick her up and SHE GROWLED AND BIT AT ME!!! I THINK SHE WAS VERY MAD ABOUT THE CRATE THING! Anyway, I will keep trying!!!

Just to be on the safe side, I'd still go to the vet and have her checked.
