Pooing outside, and Laying on a rug! I went out with both of my dogs a few minutes ago, when I noticed Venus was doing her poo outside for a change. I'd been reading on yt, that they don't like to pee and poop in the same spot. I'd been letting Venus and Adonis go in the back yard alone. I know I will get grilled on here for this, but I'm 3 miles from downtown, and not much living here in the trees, except some small birds and a few squirrels. They don't stay out long anyway. Adonis will bark when he's ready to come in. I'd hoped she quit eating her poop, since I put Lowry's seasoned salt in it. But I hadn't seen much poop in the past few days (as I knock on wood). I know she's been eating hea food too! Its 2 foot from my laptop! I also decided it was time to put one rug back down a few hours ago. I walked all over it, and laid my shoes on it, to give it "my" scent. Right now, she's laying on it like it was her bed! Ok, so we'll see if they don't like to pee where they sleep! But I was just so happy with the poo outside! I've noticed there hadn't been much poo at all in the house, and thought she was pooing when I wasn't looking and eating it. Yesterday, I'd noticed some under her bed, and figured where it was, she must have been "hiding" it. I don't know why, I never grill her for pooing on the pads, just on the carpet. I hope this is the start of something good here. Pooing outside, and laying on a rug (instead of peeing on it)!

Yea, she is. My older yorkie, Adonis, has bee going outside for both for about 4 years! Nice to see Venus going outside too. Funny thing though, I had a rug by the back door, outside. I found poo on it 2 times today. So I swapped the rug for one of those plastic mats, hoping she will not pee on it. So far though, the rug in my kitchen I put back down, looks safe. So far, she hasn't peed on it! I think she's getting it! And no pee on the carpet in the living room last night, but keeping my fingers crossed!

| I'm not drill you on this but I live a 2 mile from town and have owls, eagles and chicken hawk, racoon and bat. Minnie doesn't go out without adult supervision. Your area may be difference and only you know that it is safe.

It amazes me that you guys have predators so close to towns in the US....and people say Australia is dangerous! We have NOTHING in the city that is dangerous and the only thing I would be worried about is snakes if I lived in the bush

I feel its quite safe. Adonis has been going outside for 5 years on his own. The only problem I ever had was some kittens in the back yard. They never stay out more than 3-5 minutes before Adonis is barking at the back door. I know, that could be plenty of time for something to come swoop one up. I live in a fairly large city, and been in the same place for over 15 years, so I'm really familiar with whats around and what isn't. My neighbor does have chickens (in the middle of the city, lol) so I know there are no chicken hawks around. I'm really shocked, the rug is still dry! Its been back down 24 hours. Still knocking on wood here!
