they are my neighbors cats... and you know how they just sit there on the
steps just lurking at lexi or slowly cross the street just to annoy her

Oh okay, gottcha.........yeah I know the kind of cat you are talking about!!! Like the ones in the lady and tramp movie.......they live to annoy!!!

I have a nice lanai BUT we live on a golf course and every time a golfer goes by, landsakes if they step into the yard to retrieve a ball, the dogs go crazy. So I completely understand what you are saying. Guess there are some things we just have to learn to live with.........or get rid of the cats!

Just kidding!

I know about the barking!!! My Lexie used to bark at my rabbit ALL the time! The key is to interrupt them when they are barking. I use my "dog master" instruments, but you could always try the can with pennies in it as well. When she starts barking, shake the can. The SECOND you get ANY response (she stops, looks at you,ect) PRAISE her like crazy!! If she starts up again (and most likely will) repeat this again and again. Eventually she should get the hint that the noise happens when she barks! It takes a ton of time and patience, but they DO indeed eventually learn if you are consistant. Good luck to you!!!!
