how does your yorkie signal when she/he has to go potty?

Oh, no! I've never heard of that, but leave it to a yorkie! Actually, that sounds kinda like something Muffin would have done. I really love the bells sooooo much. I can hear them all over the house, unless someone has the tv on too loud and even then I can sometimes hear them. Tiffany sounds super cute!

She sure is very cute. Very smart too, You can see her sometimes sitting there trying to figure something out and she always will figure it out

Ok, i had the potty training sussed with Izzie. She used to come and get me and sort of dance between me and the door when she wanted to go out. Now we've got Tamzyn obviously she tinkles on the floor cos shes only 9 weeks old but Izzie..... who quite frankly should know better has now taken to peeing anywhere.

Cos the problem is when she used to disappear you used to know she needed to go potty, now you can't tell if she wants a wee or wether shes just avoiding Tamzyn and guarding her stuff.

Some lovely people on YT told me about Poochie bells, so we ordered one and had it shipped to the UK, now can anyone tell me what i do if they are quite frankly afraid of the bells??????

Mine doesn't so I just let her out every hour or so.

I sooo wanted to train Punkin to ring a bell but she was scared of it

She now will whine/cry a little bit when she needs to go out. The more of an 'emergency' it is the louder she gets and will bark if she needs to, to get her point across.

We've only had one problem with relying on this method. We had her in the cart at home depot. She made one little cry and that was it. We thought she wanted up, but we ignored her and continued to shop. As we are walking and pushing the cart I realise that she was squatting in the cart. She left a trail of pee dribble for about 20 + feet behind us. I was soooo embarrassed.

Guess we both need a bit more training!

My mom told me if you always take them out the same door they will go to that door when they have to potty. Well Logan is super smart & knows all the doors to outside so he goes to one we can see him at so we know he has to go. If he really has to go & we don't get up fast enough, he'll come look at us & then look at the door. If we are in a room where we can't see him at a door he will come find us & look up at us. In cases like this (when he doesn't have a toy) we'll ask him what do you need show me. & then we follow him & he'll take us to the door. He's really a very smart little booger.

If it were me, I would continue taking them to the door and ringing the bells and asking them at the same time if they want to go potty. I wouldn't give up. I would be persistent. Mine was a coward, too, but she soon learned to ring the bells and thought it was a fun thing to do all of the time for awhile.

I really believe some people who think they don't work for them do give up too easily. You are supposed to be training your yorkie, not the other way around.

Funny thing! When she wants me to come to the room from another part of the house to play, she'll ring the bells! Think the little darlings aren't smart?

Mine has never given me any sign when they have to pee, but they all circle when they have to poo. So, mine are mostly pee pad trained. Maybe if I can get a more convenient fence up, I will try to get them going outside at least part of the time.

Oh thank goodness. Its such a relief to hear that someone else had 'bell fear' and managed to work through it and finally got the system to work.
I remain dedicated to 'the bells'!!

Just out of curiosity....( cos we obviously don't expect them all to learn at the same speed ) but for anyone out there who is a poochie bell user..... how long roughly did it take your little angels to ring the bells by themselves?

Oh Man...Just when I thought little Oliver was doing better he wets on the couch...no warning just squat and there ya go! Is anyone else going through this and how do you handle it? I mean I just say "no - outside" and take him out (that is if i catch him). The poop is easier these days cause I feed him only at set times and watch him like a hawk until he goes but the pee...you just never know when he is gonna go...sometimes it is just like a little quarter size but he goes. AArrrgghhh....so frustrating!

If you actually see him in the act clap your hands & say no. This should startle him into stopping, pick him up & place him where you want him to go & let him finish. Just be consistent.

WOW!! You are so lucky!!!! I cannot wait till he is housebroken cause I love his company but I hate watching his every move!!!!! LOL ...Just waiting for him to slip up, lol....
