| Barking when I put her in her crate Gracie is pretty much in her crate at night and when we are gone. Lately at night she has been barking when I put her in. Well I just let her bark and she usually barks about 1/2 hour and then quits. Lately she has been waking up to go outside at 4:00 AM. I take her out and when I put her back in her crate she does NOT want to go in and barks and barks and barks. Last night she barked until 5:15. I was so desperate for some sleep I let out. Of coure when I got up at 8:00 there was poop on the floor. WHAT do I do about this? My husband is about to kill me. One of my friends said she broke her Daschund from barking in her crate by spraying her with a mist of water each time she did it. |

| If she's old enough, maybe start feeding her a little earlier in the evening. Maybe she was barking just because she didn't want to soil her sleeping area. Also you could move the crate to a location where the barking won't be so disturbing and buy some ear plugs. Good luck. |

| Maybe put the crate on a nightstand where she can see you

| she is 7 months. We had to crate in her bedroom but every time she coughed I woke up. We moved it to the living room and she actually started sleeping later so we thought woopee it worked. But now she is back to 4:00 AM wakings. She barks LOUD, we can hear her even when we shut the bedroom door. I have no problem with getting up and letting her out at 4:00. I just wish when I put her BACK in her crate after that she didn't bark. My husband is going to get sick of it and then I don't know what will happen. |

| Our little Maci barked ALL night long the first few nights that we had her, and we had her in a crate. We simply struggled through a few sleepless nights, and now she has broken that habit. I was told the worst thing you can do is to let the dog out when they are barking because that simply teaches them that persistance pays! I have had friends do the blanket over the crate, and that seems to calm them down for a nice, peaceful night. You might want to try that. Good luck!
