| Anyone have the same problem? My 9 month old yorkie mix thinks his crate is the bathroom. He goes in there to use it and when he's in there he goes. It is only big enough for him to turn around and lay down in. Anyone have a way of undoing this? |

| Well, as lazy as I am, I'd be tempted to just go ahead and make the crate his official potty area! Maybe line it with pee pads or newspaper for ease of cleaning... However, I assume you're wanting/needing him to sleep in the crate and therefore, he needs to keep it clean. I'd go back to the beginning of potty training. Take him to the place where you want him to potty (pee pads? outside?) repeatedly through the day. If he does potty there, throw a party - heavy on the little-girl-voice praise with treats! Keep an eagle eye on him and hurry him to the appropriate spot when you see him start to use the crate for his potty spot. Maybe close the door to the crate during the day so that he can't use it as a potty. Are you trying to get him to use pee pads or to go outside?

| The crate is most likely too big. If he is going to the bathroom while he is in there, you need to make the crate smaller by putting books or a box in the back of the crate. It may seem too small, but it really won't be. |

| Did he come from a pet store or a shelter? That's typical with dogs who have no other choice, like dogs from pet stores. Otherwise he's either in there longer than he can hold it or he's still smelling it from before. Wash the crate, leave the door closed when he's not in there, and don't leave him in there very long. Take away all blankets. Make sure it's VERY small.
