Training Treats

I'm just going to jump in and echo what a lot of others have already said - CHEERIOS. I had tried some other treats, but they were all large enough that they had to be broken up or cut up for a good training treat size. Cheerios are tiny already, and Bailey loves ANY treat that I've ever tried. I think the praise going with the treat gives it a lot of flavor for most of these babies.

I went to Petsmart. My baby has trouble eating the really hard food 'cuz she is only 8 weeks old. A friend of mine who used to work there and raises several dogs told me to buy Nutra natural Choice Food for her because its natural and is the only food that guarantees a healthy coat and skin. So I bought the biscuits which she can't eat cuz they are hard, but they have peanut butter if your baby can eat them. If not they, gave me the treats by the same company. They are long sticks and I cut them into tiny pieces. SHE LOVES THEM, but the training is difficult cuz of her age.

Research that Nutro stuff, because it isn't that great. The people that work at those stores don't know anything. Look at the long list of ingredients & compare.

Of course my dogs get them once in a while -- but I really don't like dog treats. I think they are a bunch of junk.......

So - when I want to give my pups a treat - training or otherwise - I give them good food and think of it as part of their good healthy food for the day. I use small pieces of chicken, other meats, cheese occasionally, and things like this. They really like them better than dog treats anyway - plus they are good for them.

When I have left over meat - etc.. I cut it up into small pieces and throw it into the freezer in a baggie. It's always good to have some on hand.
