| How many times does your puppy poop a day? Napoleon is 6months old, under 6lbs, and poops around 4-5 times a day. I don't overfeed him. When he poops it's just a bit at a time. He appears healthy and energetic. I'm just wondering if this is just a phase he's going through and he will poop less as he gets older? I don't mind walking him as I am able to come home from work several times a day to take him out, but I know I won't be able to walk him a dozen times a day in the future. So how many times does your pup poop a day? Is it very predictable?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ramsey is almost 5 months and 6 pounds. She poops 2 times in the morning and again in the evening. Predictable enough that I know what TIME she's gonna have to go.

| Tiki poops 3 times in the morning! He sleeps in my bed with me and in the morning when I get up to shower, I bring him down stairs where he is gated in the kitchen with his pee pads and by the time I come back down (about an hour later) he's done his 3 poops and is all ready asleep again in his crate! And then he'll usually go one more time at night. He's only 9 months, I know only a puppy still, but in just the past few months, his pooping has calmed down. He used to go what seeemd like every hour, but as he gets older, like I said, it's slowed down. |

| Not sure if u r free feeding your dog. I feed mine twice a day and he poops 2 times per day. Sometimes, he just poo once in the morning and once in the afternoon, or 2 times in the morning, or 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Unpredictable but definitely 2 times per day |

| Usually - puppies more - adult dogs less. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our own doctors tell us that some people go to the bathroom more than once a day - others daily - and others only three or four times a week. (And these differences are all considered normal for these people.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- So --- I am sure different dogs have different schedules also (though I think most adult dogs eating an appropriate diet usually go once daily). It certainly depends greatly on a dog's diet, exercise, and fluid intake - and many of our dogs eat different foods (some with more fiber - some with less). Plus some days, our dogs eat foods that they usually don't get. I wouldn't be worried about how often my dog goes to the bathroom -- unless, of course, we are talking about diarrhea--this is an entirely different issue. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| ILuvMySissy - I agree - it is a little ridiculous at times. Sometimes, I think I hear more about dog poop than I want to hear. And, more often than not - it is much ado about nothing. I have even seen pictures of dog poop posted here on YT. Like I've always said -- I'm glad no one is paying that much attention to me!" Carol Jean |

| It also might have a lot to do with the quality of food you feed. A higher quality of food with less by products will produce less poop. Oscar has only pooped twice a day since he was a year old. And yes, I can tell time by when he poops...if he does not go at those times, something is wrong. But that is only my take on this...I guess every dog can be different.

| Napoleon doesn't eat much but he likes to graze all day. I will try to keep him to 2 meals a day at specific time to see if this will help. He eats mostly raw ground meat and raw meaty bones, which is low residue, so that shouldn't yield a lot of poop. It's just that he poops several times, in small amounts.

| Oscar is a grazer as well but he eats a dry food - Royal Canin - he nibbles all day long. Maybe when your pup is more an adult in age his poop will be more regulated. I have never fed raw so I can't help you there.

| The things we talk about! Buddy eats a high quility dog food. I switched from Royal Canin to Natural Balance organic. I add fresh white meat chicken and fresh veggies. He still goes almost everytime I take him out which is 6:00am, 8:10am, 5:30pm and 10:00 pm. He is two yrs.old and has had the same pattern since he was a puppy. He gets fed twice a day plus treats. |

| That's interesting, Archie. Maybe some of our dogs associate going out with pooping, so the more frequently we take them out, the more tfrequently hey will poop. I'm going to try giving him just 2 meals a day, plus a little snack, to see if that will help. If not, I will also taken him out less. Maybe in morning, noon, late afternoon, and before bed.
