| gotten off target?? I know so many of us have been through the issues with training pads. Jaxon was doing GREAT - consistently going pees/poops on the pad in the laundry room and I figured he was 100% trained. Over the past 2 weeks, he suddenly has taken to pooping in the livingroom - always in the same general area. I can't figure out why?? He'll sometimes still go on the pad and pees are always done correctly. I've always given him treats after he poops on the paper and tons of praise. Any ideas on how to get him back on track? I hate to go back to confining him but I'm feeling like there is no other choice. I work remotely from a home office so I'm here all day - it's not like he's doing it because I leave.

| You may have to go back to confining him when you are not able to watch him. We all hate to put our babies in puppy jail but sometimes we have to. I wish you alot of luck. I wish I had some more ideas for you.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Puppy jail is what I had to do once or twice to show Lex that his back sliding was not acceptable and that he would lose his free reign over the house. I now leave the crate out so he knows if he back slides that is where he will go again. So far so good. Good luck.

| My Chloe did this too. We had her completely 100% potty trained in 2 days... then we took a trip to our beach house and when we came back it had all gone to hell ... bummer. But, she has takin it up quickly again. Some thing we had to think about was: is the house just too big for when she has to go and she can't make it all the way? Not that my house is huge, but for a puppy/dog of this size it might be quite a walk when she has to go! So we set potty pads in a few different rooms and it worked! Then we took one away every two days and she is back to her good habits! But during this we also discovered that she wont go where it is dark (she hates dark rooms or dark anything and wont go there). So we have made sure to always keep the light on in the bathroom(thats where she goes because whenever we went she instictually would go in that room ) So I think some sometimes it isn't as easy as "you have to go in this place no matter what", you have to figure out if there is a problem too. Sorry for being so long winded!! Good luck! |
