| "stubborn" potty problem I know there are several threads on "potty training" but I have an unusual problem with Tootie. He is working on the "potty" thing and is doing, ok? He has the same problem I see alot, he doesnt understand that pooping goes outside too! He does good peepee outside but comes back in for poop.. it is too funny! We will work on that part. But NOW, he has decided that he wants to "mark" on/in MY BED! with me RIGHT THERE! I am ready to scream... not at him tho, he is too cute.. haha anyone have any ideas what would make him want to do this. Yes, I do have other dogs, 2 fixed femailes and 1 fixed male. He is not fixed yet but will be THURSDAY, he is 9 months old.... other pets have been there since he was born, we have had him since August. I dont want to keep him from my bed, I love to sleep with him at night.. he is BIG, not tiny - 12 pounder so he can jump up there by himself. d

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | No matter how cute he is you need to be stearn on that piddling on your bed. If you don't correct him and let him know it's not acceptable then he will keep doing it.

| thanks... and YES, he gets in big trouble and KNOWS he is doing wrong, he gets caught in the act, I get his hiney, never to actually hurt him, but he knows a slight paddle with the envelope... and he runs straight to the "pottie door" when he does it.. he is very stubborn, almost like he is doing this out of spite but he is the most spoiled of them all... tks, d

| We have issues with remembering that poop goes outside. She does still use the pads for pee too, but only if I don't get her outside before she has to go. With the poop, we can walk forever & she'll go after we come inside. It's getting better, but still annoying.

| To encourage pooping outside, take some of your dog's excrement and leave it outside. When you take pup outside, lead him to the feces and let him smell it. Dogs often stimulate themselves to poop by smelling old poop.

It *may* get better when he is neutered. Personally, any dog that marked my bed more than once would be banned from the bed.

| yes, I banned him for a while, but that is SOO hard... My dogs are my babies(all 4 of them) and they wait for me to get home and "wallow" with them! I think I may have found a partial reason(this morning when I found tee in the bed). My old(14 yr old) boston is leaking when he sleeps and Tootie thinks it is ok.. I ordered belly bands today! Maybe that will help, and the snip tomorrow! Thanks everyone for your input! d

| poopy inside I am still potty training Moe, he has finally figured out pee goes outside with the big dogs..we have 2 big dogs...but poo is another story, sometimes inside on his paper sometimes outside...I have tried this method shooter's mom told me about, moving the paper closer to the door he goes out to potty, which for me is the back door.I know its not very attractive , but it's only for a short while until he associates outside and poo. When he successfully does poo on the paper by the back door, which leads directly out to where the big dogs go, I praise him get him all happy he went there, and pick it up and put it outside, he is now starting to go outside on his own, as his scent of poo is out there. He gets all happy he did it as we got him jazzed about it when succesfull at the back door....so now he gets happy about doing it outside too! It takes time, he wont go out at night for me, I don't think he likes the dark, but day time poo is outside, so good step in right direction!
