My Yorkie's a pee machine. Help! Sorry to make this my first post but this is really getting to me. I'll post an introduction later tonight. I have an 8 year old toy Yorkie, Tobias, since he was a pup and a 10 year old American Eskimo wich I rescued from the shelter 9 years ago. So the Eskimo came first by a year. My Yorkie is walked several times a day and goes out in the yard. However, he still has enough to pee everywhere, on table/chair legs, my 3 year old son's LARGE toys, CURTIANS, trash can, furniture etc... I've gotten to the point where I threw out my area rugs and I'm down to hard wood floors. I've been doing good with the clean up but there are times that I'll just happen to notice a new spot. It would be great to wake up and not have to survey the house. I limit the water intake so I don't think this is an issue and he doesn't poo in the house so I don't think this is an "I gotta go" potty issue. My other dog will not go in the house at all, an angel . Can this be a territorial issue. Tobias is not fixed. Do you thing he's too old(8) to be fixed and would this help at all. He's also a nervous wreck around new people. He'll bark when the bell rings and hide when they come in. He's had a few anxiety attacks in the past when people were over. The vet put him on meds when needed but the meds didn't help much. An help would be appreciated. -

Yeah, we're heading in that direction. This morning he pee'd in my fiancee's(sp?) shoe. Normally I would be mad but I just sat back and silently laughed. We've got to watch with jackets hanging from chairs too.

I would definately get him neutered. What he is doing is marking or spraying his terroritory. They will mark (pee) anything in site. Male dogs do this to let other dogs, animals, people know that, that is his terroritory. It is a very common thing that most to all male dogs do. Neutering him will help correct this problem.

Funny thing is I never went through this with my,ops...my parents, pair of Siberian Huskies. My American Eskimo is fixed and I've never had any issues with him. Once we get our sons confirmation and grammer school graduation and birthday out of the way Tobias is being scheduled.

peeing and pooping well, I guess I am another one of the bunch. I have two males and their sister and one of the male's daughter. They pee like crazy, I have never let them the run of the house. I have kid's gates on the kitchen and of course they pee on ythe refrigerator, doors, even their food containers and water!! I get very angry but nothing I can do because I know they are marking territories, but I am going nuts! please help!. My mother takes them out every hour because I am not home and they still pee when they come in even if they have been out. Now my younger one had puppies 41/2 months ago and it has been difficult to train the puppies. Is fixing them going to help? I've never done this to any of my dogs but I am going to have it done on the male that has sired 12 puppies with the females of my girlfriend who is a breeder. I might fix the mother too. What I am afraid of is that their personality changes and that they get fat. Please help with the training. I never have caged any of my dogs. thanks for your help.

If he is marking, I don't believe that neutering him now will help at all. I don't have a male yet, but many people on here have suggested belly bands for those little boys who just like to pee. it may not stop the peeing but at least it will be contained.

I have a male yorkie that is 16 months. He was neutered at 5 months yet still pee's like every hour! I know he is still young and am working on the "potty training" thing, but I am doing everything I can to get him to hold it longer. If I put him in the litter box he will go (so he knows what its for), but then he will get out and go 45 min later! Basically the only time he doesnt pee is when he is asleep!

| Hi, how long does it usually take to potty train a dog? My male dog is going to be 4 months old, and he cannot hold it. I have heard that dogs usually do not pee or poop where they will be (kennel), yet my puppy does. Is he too young? Because I have heard of so many stories of owners who do not have problems with their dogs because they were potty trained easily. What can I do to start potty training him correctly. Please Please Please advise!

My Merlot is almost three years old and never had that peeing around the house problem. Without being neutered. Maybe because you have the other male dog, it's a territorial thing.
