He barked ( a real small little bark may be 2 or 3 times since i got him ) . What sould i do ? I would like him to bark really loud instead of making that small little noise . |

| Why would you want him to bark??? I'm confused. Most people like quieter dogs and you want one that will bark really loudly??..lol...My Coco doesn't bark, unless someone is at the door or walks by the window and I'm grateful for that..lol

| My yorkie is 14 weeks old today and doesn't really bark either. We have heard her bark at our cat or when she doesn't recognize something and she thinks it's a threat. Other then that she's not very vocal. I will admit I love it when she does bark. It's so cute! I'm sure however it's only cute because I don't hear it often. |

| Yeah, the first maybe 3 times Bella barked I though "oh how cute!!!" Now she barks EVERYTIME she hears someone outside and that's quite often. It's definitely not oh-so-cute anymore! |

| Teaching your dog to bark- Assuming there's nothing physically wrong w/ him, does he like to play? Does he REALLY like human "treats"? If so, tease him. I know it sounds terrible, but you can often solicit a good bark just from teasing dogs. Show him that you have something tempting, tease him w/ it and you yourself have to act like it's some big whootodo and the idea is that he'll get frustrated eventually (time varies, I'd sit aside a good 5 to ten minutes) and bark. When he does, really praise him enthusiastically and give him the "goodie". Try again, maybe three times in a row-depending on HIS enthusiasm too. The idea is to always end it on a good note. Don't keep going until he's exhausted or no longer thrilled w/ the exercise. Know when to quit on a good one. He'll eventually realize that its something that is fun and pleases mom and should do it naturally more often when he gets excited about something and no longer just by you teasing him. In the future, if it gets to be too much, no big deal- now that he's got the idea you can begin to control it! Hope this helps, if not, you can e-mail me. |

| i want to trade my yorkie's vocal cords with your yorkie's vocal cords. i used to think it's funny that he's so alert and barks at any noise outside the door. but after having him do that several days in a row at 5am or 6am in the morning. it's not so funny anymore. |

| Haha consider yourself blessed! My yorkie didn't bark the first day I got him. Next day when he did bark a little, I thought it was sooo cute, then he started barking at 5am and it was NOT so funny anymore! LOL. Not to mention when he barked non-stop from 1am - 3am every night until I parked his crate next to my bed!

| Man, I wish I had your problem!! Once they learn to bark, there's no shutting them up!! I have gone to trying out a muzzle for one of mine! So, far, it seems to be working. I don't leave it on him for very long, but he seems to remember why it's there. But they seem to have short memories when they're 9 months old. Suz

| Dezi will be 4 months next week and she does not bark a lot. I am actually happy about that. She won't bark if someones at the door or if she sees another dog, but if the dog barks at her, she will bark at him/her. Now Dezi DOES CHEW AND BITE MY HANDS A LOT! |
