I can't belive how smart Yorkies are! I cant believe how smart Royce is . He started sniffing the carpet and I looked at him so he went running to his pad in the kitchen and did poo poo and came back !!!! It pays to be consistent and persistent when it comes to pad training ie: taking him to the pad every 30 min and praising him a lot and treat when he does it on pad and just say a firm no when he does on carpet .

Smart - yes! I caught my little Yorkie starting to pee on the carpet when he was just a pup. He quit mid stream and ran up the hall as fast as he could - got behind a chair where he knew I couldn't reach him - and looked me right in the eye while he finished his peeing. Carol Jean PS: Believe me - I know we are all a little prejudice with our Yorkies, but I have had other little puppies that are just as smart. They all amaze me.

They are! Every day Badger does something that amazes me. A couple of days ago, he missed the paper and wee'd on the carpet. As normal I avoided eye contact with him and just went to clean it up (normally, if he does it right, we make a big fuss of him). Out the corner of my eye, I saw him look at me, look at the carpet I was cleaning up, then he looked at the paper, looked at the carpet again, went over to the paper and sniffed it, looked up at me again, turned his head to the side like he was thinking and then ran off. After that, he's never missed the paper again!! They're little furry einsteins! I love him to bits. Mummy's little genius!

Yes they are smart...Chance our puppy has learned how to hide toys. Remmy always takes toys away that he is playing with so now when Remmy comes to get the toy chance sits on it...haha the funniest thing. His hair hangs down so you can't even see the toy usually. It like he is saying...what toy...I don't have any toys...nope none here.
