What kind of treats?

reese loves cat food for some reason. so she gets 2 pieces of cat food as potty treats.

Dogs do love cat food. I contacted the vet at the "Purina Food Company" years ago (because my dogs were totally raised on Meow Mix). He said that cat food is perfectly fine for dogs. But - it is higher in protein and can put weight on a dog. So -- if they ever do become overweight - the time to stop eating cat food has arrived.

Interestingly, he also said - "Cats should not eat dog food." Apparently, there are things in cat food that cats need - which are not found in dog food.

PS: I had my first pup with a little kitten - and noticed that only the Meow Mix was being eaten (by both of them). I tried mixing it for a while - but learned quickly that both of them picked out and ate only the cat food. So, I finally gave up and just fed "Meow Mix" to both of them ----for years and years and years.... Of course, my dog(s) like most dogs had a lot of other foods also -- tablescraps, etc. This is how it all started.......

Our dog training center at the PetSafe Village here in Knoxville Tn sells frozen Bil-Jac in the yellow bag. When they aren't frozen, you can grab a hand full and mush it together into a ball and be able to pinch it off in little peices for treat time. When its frozen, it helps with teething and all the pain that that brings. Its very healthy dog food. The don't sell it at PetSmart though .. they have a variation of the BilJac treats in a little milk carton type deal and those are very dried out and my yorkie won't eat them.

I use pupperoni because its easy to pick apart into small peices, and sometimes we use cheerios... even the cheerios i break in half. the less time they spend chewing, the better so that can retain the info your trying to teach them :] siri has the shortest attention span in the world. its really easy for their little tummies to get full and aggrivated, so start out easy on the treats in the beginning. i only started him with 2 full sticks of pupperoni a day [in teeny peices] to make sure his stomach could handle it. he didnt do too well with cheese, so i tend to stay away from it. also some people have used carrots or some fruits as really healthy treats, im not sure which fruits, but i know your not supposed to give them grapes?? i may be wrong, so dont take my word for it!! im sure someone will correct me if im wrong

I use Natural Balance Rolls and cut them in little pieces. It is actually a premium dog food so I don't feel guilty giving Buddy treats for good behaviour and training.

I use Natural Balance Roll. I slice it and use some for food and some for treats. I also use the baby carrots and animal crackers. I have to br careful because Bo has pancreatitis.

I use very crispy turkey bacon which I can put in my pocket. All of my pups stay close when I have bacon in my pocket.

Kizzy never gets any food except eukanuba, dry and sometimes for her morning meal I give it moist to her. For treats I give her cheerios. She eats her food good and loves the cheerio treats. I only give her one little cheerio for training , once in a while i give her 2 cheerios. I mean, they are small lil treats. But I won't start giving her scraps and stuff as it tends to make them turn up their noses to the dog food after a while. Maybe not all dogs but my pekingese taught me a lesson with that.
