Anyways I plan on continuing using the pee pads and plan on getting some washable ones. However does the washable ones being covered in cloth confuse the puppy? meaning that if a towel was left on the bathroom floor in the same vincity as the pee pad would the puppy use the pee pad and not the towel? Sorry to make this confusing. I guess I want to know for those who use the washable ones do you have a problem with your dog using something esle that is similar to the texture of the washable pee pad?
YES, I HAVE THIS SAME CONCERN...won't they pee on other things like blankets, towels, etc...HELPPPPP I was considering switching to pee pads, but I don't know if I should??????

I use washable pee pads underneath the disposable ones. That way I dont have to spend as much on disposable ones. This catches the overflow so i dont have to worry about leaking. She has never peed on any thing else.

We only use pee pads. Emma goes on them 99% of the time & the other 1% is right beside them. When we take her places, we make sure she knows where we've put one down at & she will go on it. We spent the first few months trying to get her to go outside (of course this was the coldest part of the year ), and had a pad inside just in case. She started doing so well on the pads, we just let her use them all the time. Plus, we had new neighbors move in that just let their dogs roam....and that scared me havin her outside with them. I've tried about every kind of disposable ones...& just might need to switch to washables!

I love the quote "Emma uses the pee pads 99% of the time and the other 1% of the time is right besides them." .. How funny and cute!! I also use the pee pads exclusively and don't want it any other way... what a convenience time of day and weather is never an issue, potty pads are portable I keep a set at my office for days when my yorkie go to work with me. I don't use the washable type I am brand loyal to the Arm and Hammer brand they absorb odor so that is rarely an issue and the are very absorbent nothing ever leaks thru the only way the flloor will get wet is those 1% times when my Yorkie is nearer the edge than the center, but most time she goes dead center. I highly recommend potty pads forget the grass, plus you don't have the issue of picking up parasite or disease from going in the grass! p.s. My Yorkie is 7 yrs old and have been using pads since she was a puppy. She does not have accidents in the house.

My sister and I both got refunds from the arm and hammer ones. Mine would tear them up, hers did the same thing. I only buy drsfostersmith.com now..Put in piddle pads and the only 2 kinds I use are the xtra and then the biodegradeable. I have been pee pad training for over 6 years, and have tried them all. Once we found the ones from Drsfostersmith, hubby said stick with them. I have 3(well, now 4) of them using them. The ones I bought before I had to change out constantly all day, compared to twice a day now

Chloe will use the pee pads anywhere we go. I even put them on the floor of our SUV when traveling , and she will pee there while we are driving . I haven't read all the replies , so sorry if I'm repeating ( and most likely am .) How about a pee pad ( or a couple) under the table and give her a treat only when she goes on that one and then slowly moving it where you want her to go.

I started out with three pee pads all in different rooms , and worked my way down to one in our family room. Chloe will now run to it from anywhere in the house , and hasn't went potty anywhere else since.. ( She is always in our site so that helps , and I do also have one upstairs that she will use if she is in the kids room playing and can't get down the stairs.)

I worked her down to only using one by giving her treats only when she used the one I wanted her to use , and in less than two weeks she was only using that pad. At first after she peed or pooed she got a treat and lots of praise , then I slowly slacked off on treats after a pee and now she only gets LOTS of praise when she pees but no treats .

She still gets treats for pooing on the pad . To make sure she poos only on the pad I use her FAVORITE treat , and the ONLY time she gets that one is after she poos on the pad. So she poos then chases me down and runs back to show me her poo and demand her treat by barking at me LOUDLY She knows that's the only time she gets that particular treat.

Good luck

Thumbs up

SUCH A GOOD IDEA!
I do give treats for both pee/poo...but I like the idea of making the poo a special treat or a different treat...Yuki will look at me too "hey, where's my treat" too funny....

i have a boy that is 8 months and we just got a lil girl she is 3 months and dublin was already pee pad trained pretty well he was already had full range of the house so when i got home i took him out and while were at home he would ring the bell on the door that he had to go out. then when i got Zoie he started acting up and going whereever he wanted.....i was getting so fustereated i had a new baby and him jsut acting up. so kenal at night for both of them and they wake we up once a night to go poddy. i take them in the morning and then in the hallway while im at work with a pee pad. 2 weeks later Dublin is back to himself i think he has accepeted her!! so he has full house again and she stayes in the hallway till she know to hold it till i get home im sure it will be a while since she is so little but i think its easier this time becasue she is learning from him. the last 2 day have been really good she is only going on her pad

i am one happy momma................good luck!!!

territory. shes letting it be known that shes there. Sasha isnt fully potty pad trained. She knows shes supposed to go outside but at night time when she has to go she can use her potty pad or if im not home. I havent had any experience with her not using them at someones house cause i usually take her out. It really sounds like shes marking territory. Letting the other dogs know that she is there and will be for a while.

Target sells the arm & hammer brand, I haven't seen them anywhere else. If anyone knows of another store that sells them, let us know.

I checked out the website for Dr Foster's pads, you get more pads for less money with the arm & hammer brand. Dr. Foster site did have the piddle pad tray that locks the pad in place and further protect the floor. I have been looking for those trays, so thanks for the info on the website. The tray may also prevent a dog from shredding the pad, which hasn't been a problem for me so far.

2 out of 3 times Bender uses his pee pad. I've had really good luck with him. At my friends house (they have a yorkie too) he uses his pad, and at my brothers house (No dogs). However, at my parents house, he seems to forget. Maybe because he had peed on the carpet a few times before when he was younger?
