For those of you who's yorkies are pee pad trained... Esme does great on the pee pads at home. I take her to my moms house every Saturday. My mom has two Pomeranians who are also pee pad trained. I set Esme's pad next to theirs and I walk her over there and have her do her business on the pad. Now, the problem is that she still insists on peeing on my moms area rug in under the dining room table. I don't know why she does this??? We have some area rugs at home, so I don't think it's because she hasn't experienced a rug before. Each time she does her thing there we clean it with Nature's Miracle, so I don't think it's the smell that makes her keep going there. My mom thinks Esme is the cutest, so she doesn't get upset. But, I am wondering, will she ever be potty trained in my mom's house too?? When dogs are completely pee pad trained, does that mean they will ONLY go on the pads wherever they are? Or will she only go on the pads, at home? I am really curious about this. Mari |
I can only say from my experiences thus far with Baby that she will only use the pee pads at home. I've taken her other places and she acts like it's her first day on the job and she can pee where ever she pleases! We just take her outside whenever we go to someone else's house! Good Luck! |
i have to agree with ya.... toby does good at home, and then he pees all over the place at my moms house, unfortunatly she is not as kind as your mom :( |
I found that it was harder to train my Yorkie to use a pad at my in-laws home, but she just started being consistent the last two visits. Until then she would go sometimes on her pad, but she would also go right beside her pad or use the door mat. I'm lucky enough to mahe a mom-in-law like Mari's mom, she didn't seem to mind, (she calls our dogs her grandpuppies :) ) but my father-in-law was not pleased to say the least. It took a good 10-15 visits to get her trained at their house, so don't give up hope. :) |
Our yorkie is litter-boxed trained and when we take him on vacation we just bring his litter box. Admittedly, it is not as easy as a piddle pad, but he doesnt seem to have a problem using it regardless of where we are. :aimeeyork |
parlor pants When I take my Yorkies to visit anyone, they wear belly bands(boys) and parlor panites(girls)..it is too stressful for me to watch them every second.. some people have very expensive carpets and wood floors. The older I get the more I look for ways to make life easy and this works for me. |
Me too. Bands and panties work great for hotels too. |
House training?? I have only had Reese for a week and a half (she is 10 weeks old) and I am trying to train her on the pads. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I should start this process. I thought she was doing ok at first but then we went away last weekend and she seemed to not even notice the pads were there. |
Puppy Pads Pinkerton likes to pee pee on the pads.. he knows a treat is coming his way and a "GOOD BOY" and when i am not in the room where his pad is .. he brings it to me to show me.. what he did... he is too silly.. :D |
Hi! I am taking our girls with us on vacation in July. My parents aren't used to indoor dogs and now I am a bit concerned about the puppies remembering to use the pads or waiting until they go outside. Where would I find these parlor panties for the them? Thanks! |
Not so with Lily Belle Hi! Just wanted to add that while I think Parlor Panties are a great idea, my Lily knows where to tinkle in most locations. I simply bring the pad, sprayed lightly with the "training mist", and put it in a location that she can see..... preferably somewhere that everyone else is goin got be near, too.... If she has to leave the room to pee, or leave "where the action is" to find her pad somewhere, I don't think she would respond half as well. Just a thought! :) |
It took a while for Oreo and Ginger to be potty trained at two different houses (i take them to my house and my boyfriends house) .. so it was quite a chore. They were fully potty/poopy trained at my house, but when i started bringing them to my boyfriends house that was a different story. I bought this spray and would just spray in on the peepee pads.. and they would go on there.. they use to pee/poop everywhere (well still do once in a while, still working on it).. but i use that spray on their pads and they go on the pad, but when i forget to put it, they'll sometimes know to pee on it, but they will poop somewhere else! but that spray is kind of smelly! :) but it does work! |
Hi, What kind of spray is that? One of my pups uses the pad and the other prefers the middle of the kitchen floor. He does go to the kitchen on the tile floor, I did get him taught that! Thanks, Whitney |
hello where do you get the belly band/panty things?? charlie is not the greatest at potty training... he is a year old and still marks in between going outside... it is very frustrating... but i agree that he is worse when going to other people's homes... |
The spray i don't remember the name, i just bought it from Target, and i had ran out and my boyfriend threw the bottle away... and we bought another one today, but it's liquid and you put a few drops on the pad.. it's called Four Paws Puppy housebreaking aid. (i got it at petco) i hope this helps! |
