| Need help on potty training outside I've been training my yorkie to do on the newspaper inside the house. Since the weather is getting warmer, I would like to take him outside and train him to do it outside more often. Will they get confuse after being train to do on the newspaper for the past 7 mths? Can they be trained to do both? When they're outside, do it outside and when they're inside and cannot take them out on time, to do it on the newspaper. Has anybody has any experience on this? How do you train them to do outside? I work full time but come home at 3 p.m. So he is usually in the bathroom from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. I leave his toy, bed and the newspaper on the floor in case he needs to go. Should I put him in the crate if I want to train him to do outside? Will that be too long to stay in the crate? |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We taught our girls to go outside after first teaching them to go on pee pads....it just takes some extra effort!! We would take them outside every hour and tell them "go potty"....if they had to potty in between the hour they would use the pee pad and after they peed we would take them directly outside and told them "potty outside"...after a couple of weeks they got the hang out of it!! Now when we are home they go outside to potty and when we are not they use the pee pads....it has worked great for us!!! And they don't seem confused at all....
