I've been training my yorkie to do on the newspaper inside the house. Since the weather is getting warmer, I would like to take him outside and train him to do it outside more often. Will they get confuse after being train to do on the newspaper for the past 7 mths?

Can they be trained to do both? When they're outside, do it outside and when they're inside and cannot take them out on time, to do it on the newspaper.

Has anybody has any experience on this? How do you train them to do outside? I work full time but come home at 3 p.m. So he is usually in the bathroom from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. I leave his toy, bed and the newspaper on the floor in case he needs to go. Should I put him in the crate if I want to train him to do outside? Will that be too long to stay in the crate?
