| Puppy Litter..HELP!! Ok, my fiancee thought long and hard before getting our little angel on which way we wanted to do the potty training. I suggested the pee-pads. He thought of the puppy litter. So, off the the pet store we went. Well, we got everything the very nice lady told us we would need (a lot of the stuff they had she said wouldn't work, so I knew she wasn't just trying to make a sell). She was explaining how she trained her little westie to use it. She said simply place her in it after a meal, sit and watch her while encouraging her to go to the potty. She said she didn't allow her westie out of the box until she pottied. Sounded simple....WRONG!!! Well, after meals, I wait a little bit and then place her in the litter pan. I continue to say "Go Potty" while she is in there and do not let her exit the pan right off. However, the sitting in the pan got longer and longer with her whimpering to come out. I felt horrible so I always let her out. BUT, she would immediately get out and pee, right in front of me! I couldn't believe it at first. So, I kept her in the box longer, thinking maybe I just didn't give her enough time. No matter how long I keep her in there, she keeps doing it. I just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything I can spray in there that might make her want to go in the box? Should we change the game plan (this early in it I am not sure that is the right thing but I could be wrong)? I need help!!! |

| You might try taking the litter out and put a pee pad in the box.. She will learn to use the box to potty in..then you can switch to newspapers. I never liked litter it's a mess and they sometime play in it or try to eat it.. Good luck |

| Litter training products Quote:
I'm trying to figure out the best way to go with potty training my little one. With litter training, what all did you buy? Also, you might try putting her poo poo in there so she can smell it - i don't know, it's just a thought as I am new at this too.

| Bentley goes to the litter box and its really great once they get the hang of it cause they just hop right in when they have to go. Just keep puttin her in the box after meals and then if she gets out and goes outside of the box then say No No and put her back in the box and kinda push her bottom down and say" go potty in the box" and just keep being consistent with the training. Also like if she would happen to poop outside of the box, pick it up and put it in the box and say "potty in the box" so she knows to go in there. Then once she starts going in the box give her constent praise. Its funny we always laugh and were throwin a party cause when bentley goes in the box we say "awww good boy go in the potty!!!" and he dances all around looking for his treat! Goodluck with the litter training! |
