Please help! Dog wont stop Biting me My Yorkie poodle mixed dog is 1 year old now, and i've taught him tricks but hes stubborn so he only listens when he wants to. For a while now, every time I took him out to the backyard and i went in the grass he would run around and jump at me biting. Sometimes its hard enough to leave scrapes/cuts on my skin. I've tried looking at what other people suggested which is to fold my arms and say the command "off"(which he understands) anytime he tries to bite me and when he stops to reward him, but the problem is he never stops biting. He will continue to bite me until i get out of the grass to the pavement side of our backyard. I'm assuming he thinks every time I go to the grass I'm going to play with him, but I dont understand how to properly train him so he'll stop doing this. Besides this problem, when we're inside hes sweet and calm, a very friendly dog.

Hi there. Your pup is a year old. While it seems unlikely this is related to teething, it would be good to check with your vet just to make sure. There is an article on YorkieInfoCenter, "Yorkie Biting." Separate from the many suggestions in that article, you might contact a behavioralist for suggestions. Hope this helps. --KatysMom

When did he start biting you? Do you leash him when going outdoor? Normally, a puppy under 1 year old will chew or bite because of teething. Owners should offer toys or sticks but avoid playing the pup with your hands. He could regard your hands as his toys and remember firmly, so you need to take some measures to correct this bad habit. You could search relative articles on google, such as this one. What's more, remember to leash your dog while walking. When he is ready to bite your hands, say "no" angrily but don't blame. If he stops, give him some toys or treats. Take him to dog-friendly stores or parks until he has corrected the bad habit, in case of bitting strangers or canines.
