| New puppy need help hey guys! so today i adopted myself a morkie puppy from an animal shelter. it was a stray and was not house trained or anything. they say he is about 3-4 months old. tonight was the first night we put him in a crate, all we put in the crate was a dog bed we bought(not sure if thats what to put in it). when we close the crate,he starts to cry and bark and i feel so bad and whatever i do he wont stop and i let him out and put him on my bed and he then gets comfortable and closes his eyes. im also planning on taking him out every 1-2 hours at night but am afraid that after i walk him and he doesnt potty he will come inside and potty on my bed.please help me guys! thanks again! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome. Remember that crates are VERY small, confined places -- and not all living beings can tolerate that kind of space. None of my 4 could ever tolerate the crate, they absolutely hated it. I personally do not believe in forcing a dog into crating if they are unable to tolerate it. Instead, I used the Iris Pen (Walmart or Amazon) for them as puppies and kept their bed, pee pad, water, toys in there.

| Welcome to YT, congrats on your new baby and THANK YOU for rescuing. I agree with Wylie's Mom Iris or E-pen there is room for bed, wee-wee pad, food, water bowl and roaming room. Remember, this is a baby in a new HOME with strangers, baby is scared and cramped in a crate. Please keep us updated on his new life with you.
