how can we graduate from wee wee pads to going outside Sparkle Is doing great with the wee wee pad potty training she can hold it about 3hours before she has to go. However When I tell her go pee sometimes she goes sometimes she doesn't. She rarely goes when I'm watching her. She has had about 4accidents in about 3 weeks which to me isn't bad at all but I do want her to get acquainted with going outside. When I take her out (usually in my back yard) she just stands around doesn't want to walk or sniff around to go her business she just waits for me to pick her up and bring her inside. how can we make this transition easy. Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm no expert but if you put her potty papers outside when you take her out, especially after she has already peed on them and show them to her she might get the idea and this will take time. Or maybe if you start moving her potty papers closer to the door first and then outside that could do the trick. Praise her if she goes outside and then try taking the paper away outside and see if she will go on the grass. Maybe if you google what you want to do it will come up with some links on doing this transfer of using potty papers inside to going outside without them? Best wishes on your potty transfer.

My yorkie is 4 months and we just recently switched from potty pads to outside. From all I read we were suppose to bring him to the same spot consistently. However, he was doing the same thing you're saying and not going. We put him on his lease and just walked down the block and within minutes he found a spot to mark! Now he usually goes in one or two spots that we go to right away. Maybe try taking him for a short walk where other dogs possibly have gone? This may trigger his want/need to go to the bathroom. Now, we only use the potty pads when we are at work during the day. He rarely uses them and typically waits until we get home and bring him outside to go. Good luck!!
