| My Puppy is Barking non stop and peeing in her crate!! We finally got our new baby! She is 12 weeks old and absolutely adorable and so sweet, but she is driving me crazy!! We got her one week ago and I have been up all night every night since we brought her home. She barks non stop ALL NIGHT LONG and even lost her voice one day. I have tried putting her in her kennel at night, putting her in my bathroom with her bed and puppy pad, it does not matter she will not stop. We are trying to potty train her using the crate method like I did with my other puppy and she just pees in it. I tried taking the blanket out and she just pees on the plastic and walks all in it and this after I just spent 1/2 hour with her outside, it does not matter. Our other yorkie never behaved like this, so I am only doing what I know to do, but I am delirious now after losing so much sleep with the constant barking and I feel helpless because every method of training I know to do is NOT working!! Does anyone have any helpful ideas? I am ready for any advice. Another thing is that she sleeps all day and will not leave my side. I have tried to leave her in the other room with my family so she can bond with them, but she just barks and whines. She doesn't seem to want to play like a normal puppy of 12 weeks. Why would she act like this and will she ever act normal? PLEASE HELP!! |

| Wow!! Our baby is already coming around! We have been taking her outside non stop and telling her "go potty" and she has started peeing today when we tell her. She slept all night last night and did not bark. She really is a smart girl. I absolutely adore her and I am so thankful to have another yorkie to love!! She is the sweetest girl ever! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry I am just seeing this now. I am so happy it is going better. Each one is different and some take better to the crate than others. Of my 4, 2 love the crate and 2 hate it. I would love to see pictures!

| I can only imagine that this is stressful situation, I just recommend that you talk to a vet that can really answer the question. They may have answers, they may not but its worth a try. Thats my only advice since this behavior is different and persistant. Hope you find answers soon.

also she was probably scare of her new environment....and need some time to get use to....that may explain the barking.....and peeing....once she realize that this is her forever home and that she is safe it will get better....

| What I am trying w/My 12 week old Yorkie My 12 week old male Yorkie, Lil Bit, is so different from my 3 yr old female, Taz. I raised her from 8 weeks old and now him from 8weeks old. Her barking was/is not a problem but he is a loud barker and uses constant barking to try to get what he wants. I've been ignoring the barking and make sure he is never rewarded for it. He wants attention and does not get it when he barks. I have a large pen for him in living room and a crate alongside the bed at bed height. Every other night he starts barking as soon as I put him in because he wants out of crate. I promptly take him to pen in living room and go back to bed. Then I wait until he is quiet for around 5 minutes and bring him back to crate. He then is perfect for that night and the next. The barking begins again on 3rd night and I follow same process. It seems to be working. Plus never use the puppies crate for punishment. I use pen or spare room. You want them to feel safe in crate. He potty trained himself from shortly after I got him . My female is almost impossible to fully potty train Good luck. |

| Puppy Barking Everything I have read says to not response to the barking but wait until she is quiet even if only for a less than a minute, then you can respond. In a situation where you rent and puppy keeps barking, I probably would haul her crate and keep it in the room I am in. I use an exercise folding pen and it is not that hard to fold and haul to the room I'm going to stay in. Also what I did was arrange my activities to where I could remain in one room for some time. Then when you are moving around house you could try the method where you put her on a leash and tie her to your belt. That way you can always keep a careful eye on her. |

| Thanks. I started sleeping downstairs with the crate. I ordered a play pen so hopefully when it gets here I can get some sleep. In the meantime I will get up every hour to let her pee on the weewee pads. Thanks again! |
