Default What I am trying w/My 12 week old Yorkie

My 12 week old male Yorkie, Lil Bit, is so different from my 3 yr old female, Taz. I raised her from 8 weeks old and now him from 8weeks old. Her barking was/is not a problem but he is a loud barker and uses constant barking to try to get what he wants. I've been ignoring the barking and make sure he is never rewarded for it. He wants attention and does not get it when he barks. I have a large pen for him in living room and a crate alongside the bed at bed height. Every other night he starts barking as soon as I put him in because he wants out of crate. I promptly take him to pen in living room and go back to bed. Then I wait until he is quiet for around 5 minutes and bring him back to crate. He then is perfect for that night and the next. The barking begins again on 3rd night and I follow same process. It seems to be working. Plus never use the puppies crate for punishment. I use pen or spare room. You want them to feel safe in crate. He potty trained himself from shortly after I got him . My female is almost impossible to fully potty train Good luck.
