| Moving from City to Suburb I currently live in a high rise so my little 3.5 yr old is pad trained. We are moving to a home in the suburbs and I would like him to now only go to the bathroom outside. Is it possible to retain him? Do I need to start training him all over like he is a puppy? Should I start right away or is moving too much of a shock? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!! |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | It can be done and I would suggest waiting for a bit. The shock of the move and the winter chill may be too much for him and he may not transition as easily as he would in the spring. So I would wait for warmer weather. Here are some tips that may help you get him outdoor trained: Training Tips - Dawn's Yorkies

| Thanks so much! Can you let me know what you think of this idea.... When he was getting pad trained as a puppy he slept in his crate/play pen. I don't see him going back to that again since he is spoiled and snuggles with me at night. Until we can trust him to not want to go inside the house, I was thinking of using the belly bands just while we sleep. Is this a good idea? |

Is he totally potty trained ? If not does he alert you when he needs to go potty during the night? Belly bands would work to a point, They would definitely prevent a major blow out but if he does go potty it will leak through.

| We just did this exact thing! Except, Kaji was potty trained outside before he came home. Was pad trained for the last 3 1/2 years. Now, we just went cold turkey into potty training outside. It was super easy because Kaji has always pottied on command. Does your Yorkie potty on command?
