Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() OH MY GOSH!!! Jasper has been a little tyrant today! All he wants to do is bite me. And HARD....he even has gotten my nose and earlobe and drawn blood on a thumb. He has been doing so well with this issue or so I thought. Is this a phase like a human child might go through? I've told him strongly "NO" and ignored him...popped him once on either his nose, top of head or rump. Nothing is working today. He is in timeout right now and giving me the stink eye. It's hard not to laugh at him. But I'm standing on this one. Some help here please!!! Thanks!

| ![]() It is a puppy phase, I guess. Huey drew blood on me and dh by snagging our nasal septums with his teeth. I learned that when he bit, to yelp loudly like another dog would and act hurt (even if I wasn't), and he fairly quickly learned what behaviors caused us pain. That seemed to work better than disciplining him. We did have a few bloodlettings in the meantime... ![]()

I did want to suggest though that you get out of eye shot of him when he's in time out it you can. Isolation might seem a little mean, but it makes a big difference in them when you let them back out. Also, if he is particularly devilish be prepared to put him right back in timeout. Sometimes Bentley will come out biting if he's particularly spazzy. If you are consistent with the timeouts and do it immediately it helps. A good ouch, no bite and in timeout. Be quick so he can associate the action with the timeout and isolation. 5 minute time out seems to be sufficient, anything longer I think they might think it's just oh she must be busy that's why I'm in here(but that's just my logic lol).

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() You do have a little devil on your hands! The advice give is excellent. That is what I did with Teeka. She was a biter when playing. She did not realize how hard she would bite....I would yelp loudly, more away and ignore her for a short. She is very sensitive and got the point very quickly!
