| 5 week old pups My sweet Khloe has gotten very sick with pneumonia. Vet said I have to completely separate the pups from her so she can't share with them. Also, with her meds, she can't nurse. I introduced them to food and water this week so at least it isn't brand new. I am also supplementing with puppy formula from the vet. My issue, they are getting out of their whelping box. Anyone have ideas to contain them a little more. They chase their Mom every where. I hate to lock her away from us being sick, but hate to lock the pups completely away from us as well. Would a kennel be too much right now? Any dead friends? They need socialization and training when Mom can't provide it. |

| an x-pen is just what you need....I set mine up in the sunroom, where all the activity is during the day, and I put mom in and out sporadically all day long....you wont be doing that...just put the babies in the xpen...I fold a king size sheet in 1/4, cover that with large pee pads, set the x-pen (4' x 4') on the square, put their bed in one corner and their saucers with water and mush in the other corner....be sure there are no drafts where they are.....you can then drape a sheet around the pen, so they are not disturbed for naps.....you can even throw a sheet completely over the top at night so they are completely enclosed in the pen.... | Awww I hope your girl gets better soon!! Most pups are starting to wean at 5 weeks, so the pups will thrive. Yep an ex pen is what I use. I have 3 of them. One for the whelping and post delivery mama. One for the older pups that have moved from the confines of my bedroom, I usually do this at 5 weeks. This pen I keep in our family room, so the pups can constantly be around the family. I keep potty pads in one corner......toys and beds in another....and food in the other. My 3rd one is for when the finally get old enough to go outside. (I don't do that until after their second dose of shots at 10 weeks.) I also have 2 portable ex pens that I keep on hand, and use quite a bit. Keep us posted on how everyone is doing.

| I would definitely get an exercise pen to contain the pups. I hope Khloe gets better soon!

| Thank you all. I went to PetSmart and got an inside exercise pen. We have them in the den with us and they are happy campers! They use the pads most of the time. My Khloe is better, but not well yet. The pups got their first shots today. Now comes the hard part, advertising them! I am trying to only sale to those I know. My babies must have good homes! |
