| House traing Have been trying to potty train our 5 and half month old yorkie. We take him out every 2 hours during the day he goes to the bathroom and as soon as we bring him back in he goes on the floor. We tried just about everything nothing is working. Like this morning he pooped and as soon as I brought him back in he runs to the living room and goes on the carpet. Does anyone have suggestions how stop him? |

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | Do you have an ex-pen? Keep him confined to an area, so he doesn't have free run of the house. Put him on a schedule for walking and pottying. Praise when he goes in the correct spot and ignore the mistakes. Clean mistakes with an enzyme cleaner such as Natures Balance (think that's the name of it) And move on. He is still a pup and yorkies are notorious for being more difficult to house train. My boy is 14mths and still has the odd accident...*sigh*. Consistancy and praise and of course patience...

| House training Yes we do have another pen but still not working. We take him out every two hours for about 15 mins at a time but when he comes in goes on the floor. We are going to get him neutered in 2 weeks so I hope it helps. We praise him when goes outside and give him a treat. |

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | When you catch him making a mistake, pick him up right away and get him outside and praise....try increasing his walk time...if he does nothing when out there into his pen he goes...back out 15min later. This worked for me with Raellemy little girl, but the boy is still have some issues, its a work in progress....

Senior Yorkie Talker | Regulate when you feed him & give him water! That was key to us training Jaxson! He's 5months old & doesn't go in the house at all! He's on a strict routine which we both love because it makes our lives much more fun & easy!! He sleeps through the night in his play pen (like on the rugrats) with his bed & toys with no problems! We get up at 7am he goes straight to the backdoor to go potty, comes back in & has breakfast & water waiting....he'll eat then an hour later he's outside for 15-30minutes. We'll have play time then he'll go out, if I see he drinks water during play time I take him out, he takes a mid afternoon nap & after he wakes up he goes out, before dinner he goes out, after dinner, and a couple times before bed! I won't give you the times cause you have to make your own schedule but yorkies are very smart & he'll get the hang of it! We even left our Jaxson with my parents when we went out of state and he had no problems there as well! It's exhausting but it's well worth it once you have him on routine! He doesn't get the full run of the house because well he's still a puppy & we want him to get bigger before he runs all over the house! Good luck & PM me if you have any questions. |
