| Tough love? So Penny has been home with us for eight days now. I was not putting her in her kennel (it is 3 feet by 4 feet) when I was home, but she started having more and more accidents, and I just could not watch her every second... So today, I took her for a walk, played with her a bit, and then put her in the kennel. She barked and howled for most of the time. I was up stairs cleaning, and doing general house work. So my new stratigie is to put her in her kennel unless someone can watch her. This afternoon, my son and I took her for a walk, and played with her out back, and then I needed to make dinner, so I put her in the kennel- she cried less. Will it get better? Will she start to like being in the kennel? |

| She will, but she will need to get used to being in it and it needs to be a fun place for her to be. Toys, food, toys, water, toys, bed, toys. Maybe a kong to keep her busy? You get the idea.

| She has her toys in there. I gave her a chew stick, but she did not chew much of it. She had a kong until today- and I lost it somewhere, I am going to get another one tomorrow. All she wanted to do was bark and cry. I am trying to get her use to the kennel so that she will sleep there at night. Right now she is sleeping with my daughter. The first night I tried to have her in my room, but she was crying and would not sleep. I put her in the kennel and she cried ALL NIGHT, and then slept most of the day...that was a week ago now. Today she went on two walks and had lots of playing time. I am going to try and get her use to the kennel so that she will sleep there at night... |

| When I brought Bella home she barked and cried for almost a week. I would just ignore it by closing my bedroom door. NOW! when its time to go to bed she knows its kennel time. Sometimes she walks in all by herself...I dont have anything in there for her to play with because its "sleep time"...She just has a blanket... During the day I leave the door of her kennel open and she would grab a toy and take it in the kennel with her and lay down and play with it Last edited by AlishaYorkie; 05-12-2012 at 12:16 PM. |

| Yep! tonight is the night...she has gotten use to our house and being in the kennel- so now she needs to learn to sleep in there. We have been taking her on walks- so that will help. I am going to aim for a 9:00 walk tonight and see if we can get her tired. I would have to say she is in a great and active mood today. |

| It is hard at first to listen to them cry but so worth it when they go "nitenite " in their special place and you know they are safe all night and you can sleep without worrying. It won't happen overnight, the exercise will help so much! I made Abby a little blanket out of an old nitegown, maybe your daughters t- shirt? |

I play so hard at night with her right before her bed time so she will just go bed and it worked! wake up 5:30 am burked to show us she peed and poo in pee pad then she could come to our bed...for 30 minutes on our bed... now she sleeps with us all night... |
