| Why am I his human chew toy?? Help! So... Buster has a million chew toys and he insists on chewing(very hard) on me. I know he is teething but those little teeth hurt! He tell him no very sternly and he back up..then runs ans pounces on me and nipps again evern harder. If I push him away from me..he growls ans comes back for more. Any good ideas on how I can train my little man to stop attacking me?? He also started this new thing where if he gets in trouble, he runs...looks at me and then pee's right in front of me! As if to say "oh yeah... u yelled at me now im gonna pee on the rug!!" . He is such a strong willed puppy! |

| Everyone goes through this with puppies, I think Your baby is just that, a baby. He will nibble on anything that is near his mouth, including you. Correcting this behavior a matter of constant repetition, saying a key phrase firmly like "no bite" and immediately offering a chew toy as a replacement for you works pretty well for us. At 5 months, Wosie is still biting us in play, but not nearly as much as she was a month ago, and even less than she was last week. It just takes time. Offering an alternative chew toy and a "good boy" when he uses it is a good thing. As far as the peeing in spite thing is concerned, although it may seem so, puppies know nothing about spite. That's just another behavior that needs to be corrected, and you can find a ton of housebreaking info on this site by going to search and typing "housebreaking" or "peeing". Good luck!

| teething too... My Straszny is teething too...and I don't know if I should let him chew SOFTLY on my fingers...I guess that I shouldn't. I just feel so sorry for him. I don't want to confuse him though, and chewing can't be allowed forever... |

| Hang in there it will get better! When we got Teddy he was a little terror. I honestly walked around looking as though I got my butt whooped in a boxing match as his favorite thing was to try and pierce my nose, lip or what ever he could latch onto when he leaped towards my face. Never had I experienced that kind of behavior with any other puppy! Then we started to work on manners... We consistantly did the "no bite" thing and we also taught him the word "off then redirected his bad behavior. It didn't take long and he was like a different little guy. Today he is the most docile and loving little boy in the world. They are just like human kids they push, push, push to see what they can get away with.

| He'll grow out of it, all the dogs I have ever had did eventually grow out of the chew on your hands stage. I never did make a big deal out of it because I was always bad to play fight with them using my hands as they all loved it so much, but as they get older they kinda lose interest. LOL my 6 year old poodle has been just a bit jealous since we got Binks that he has kind of reverted to puppyhood and also tries to play with my hand using his mouth, its so funny though as he will put his mouth over my hand with his mouth wide open and he never closes it, he just stands there with his mouth open. |

I don't recommend pushing him away. He interprets that as part of the game. | |

| Chachi would bite on us like that and we would tell him no bite. We started to put bitter apple on our hands and feet and that worked for us.

| Man am I glad this thread was started. Yoshi wants to chew on my hands 23.9/7, and that .1 of the time he is not he is either peeing/pooping or I am telling him "No bite!" I am tryin to stay consistent w/ telling him no and giving him somethin to chew on, but i'm mainly just hoping he'll get tired of it one day, because it seems like it is his favorite thing to do.
