| why doesnt he start freaking out> They said Ozzy was 3 when we got him in january, but im not exactly sure of his age. He is potty trained, doesnt bark, plays, and is a great dog. But he never really goes anywhere with me because when i tried taking him to petsmart one day he freaked out and started pulling the leash all over the place. I want to take him everywhere with me but i cant seem to get him used to it and to calm down around other dogs and people |

| Have you tried signing him up for basic obedience? You'll have the perfect opportunity to build his confidence and teach him proper behavior outside. Keeping a dog inside secluded will not help him get better. I have a pup who has been extremely fearful since he was 1 year old. He is now 3, and is much much better around people. He does well in stores most of the time.

That's what I did with Belle. Training classes have made a world of difference for us!

| Good advice. Training classes should help. Expand his world slowly. I have done this with rescues. First a short car ride a bit longer each day. Go to Wal-marts or a busy grocery store, parking lot. Ride around, park and let them watch the shopers coming and going. Walk them a little in front of the store. I always have a sign made that says DOG IN TRAINING please no petting Later I use a sign that says DOG IN TRAINING Please ask before petting This way you build up to slowly to new things.
