| Puppy pads/Outside pottying So when I got my first yorkie she was already potty trained so potty training is new to me. I wanted to get feedback. I plan to put my puppy in a crate and in a giant play pen but I was wondering, should I also put a puppy pad in the corner of the play pen while I'm at work? And should I keep the crate door open so the puppy can roam around in the play pen or should I keep it closed? I want to train the puppy to go outside but I know for puppies its hard. Do you think training on pads AND taking the puppy outside will cause confusion? The goal is for them to know its not okay to pee inside, but I dont want the puppy pottying in its crate, thats why I've thought about maybe doing the pad too. Btw, while I'm at work, I'm having someone come by during lunch to take the puppy out. If you have any potty training tips, I'd LOVE to hear them. Thanks.

| Sounds like similar to my situation. I started off pad training but realized i liked taking my pup out to go to the bathroom. its excercise and gets her some excercise. She goes every time i take her out even if its to pee. She wont poop inside anymore. She will however on a long day go pee on her pad tha ti have out for her. she is still young and small bladder, so i dont expect her to hold it for 8 hours while i am at work, but she will wait to go #2. its not confusing if you constantly take them out and praise them when they go. but youw ill have to commit to always going out at random hours in the beginning even at 2am (oooooof) to get them used to it |

| Thanks for asking the question and the input. I will be doing the same and it's good to hear what others are doing. |
