| whinning....its making me whine.... What are some tricks that have worked for you all? He is fine when hes out playing and cuddling, but as soon as its time for him to go to his bedroom ....the whining begins and its loud lol. I don't want him to think that everytime he whines he can get out so i tried to ignore it, well it doesn't stop! I tried a shaker can but it only hushes him for the split second and he's back at it. I know he's a baby and its natural but I'm wanting to nip it in the bud early. I have kids in school and I'm in school myself and we need some rest too. any suggestions on things that have worked for you?

| Where is his bedroom? Is he removed from where everyone else sleeps? The fastest way to cure whining and crying is to move him into a bedroom with one of his people, probably you. Max slept in an xpen next to my bed when he was a puppy.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Well what I normally do is to put the cage in the same room as the family is in during the day and at night move it into the bedroom with me or have a separate cage for him there. Plus you will be able to hear his cries in the night when he need to go out to potty if the cage is in your room. It comes down to him just being lonely.... as long as he can hear your voices and knows that someone is close by he will be a bit calmer. Not completely but better. You still need to hush him and possibly put a lightweight blanket over the cage. It helps him calm down and not get so excited when he sees someone walk by the cage. Make sure he has some toys to occupy his time with. But most importantly... "continue to ignore him". Do not baby him or say anything to him when he is in his cage except your command for "HUSH". This only excites him more and prolongs the whining. In time he will get use to it and you wont hear a peep out of him.

| Having a schedule, a daily routine, also helps. If you do everything around the same time each day, your pup will fall into the rhythm and be a little bit more relaxed. Make sure the routine includes plenty of exercise. The more tired he is at bedtime, the less likely it is that he will whine.

| Ok I rearranged a few things and moved the crate in the room with me. I put a blanket over the crate as well......its bedtime now and I put his little butt in it pulled the blanket over and only heard crying for a few minutes. YAY I just hope this isn't a one night thing lol Thanks for the tips.
