| My dog is angry, PLEASE READ MORE AND HELP!!! Hi. My little 2 year old Yorkie named Coco is starting to growl and bite at me every time I try to pet her. It's not like she is a new dog, I've had her for 2 years and she always loved me and I loved her equally. Suddenly, I got home today and she started barking and snapping at me as if I was a complete stranger. I'm guessing that she just doesn't recognize me with my hair up (I have bangs) and no makeup, I just don't know. PLEASE HELP ME! I LOVE MY YORKIE SO MUCH AND I WANT HER TO LOVE ME BACK AGAIN!!

| Geez, I'm sorry I don't have any answers...hope others can offer some advice. I would think she would know you with your worst and best face on though after 2 years. Did anything happen to her recently, maybe it's something medical. Just throwing out some thoughts.

| Try putting your hair and make up like you usually do and see how Coco reacts. One time I put a facial mask on and came out of the bathroom (the facial mask was green) and Sammy started barking and growling at me. I had to wash it off and show him that it was still Mommy underneath the green face. Also, did you change perfume and Coco didn't recognize the new scent? Good luck!! |

| We have a similar issue with Ozzy. He won't come to either of us if we're wearing sunglasses. Despite their sense of smell, I really thing dogs also rely on their sight quite a bit. I bet it's just your different look that has your baby confused. |

| this kind of sudden aggressive behavior screams of MEDICAL and or PAIN issues! Please take her to the vet asap, I doubt it has anything to do with your hair style or makeup. Have her checked out, blood work, etc.

| Don't know what could be wrong, my Tessie loves me but runs to her daddy everytime I try to pick her up. Hope you can find out what is wrong.

| Take her to the vet and make sure this is not a medical issue.

| I talked to the vet and there was no medical issue. I put my hair and makeup the way I usually do and Coco recognized me again. Thanks a lot guys! Y'all are the best!

| I've had a similar thing happen with my Toy Fox terrier. If one of us wears a coat with the hood up, she goes nuts like we are strangers. Even talking to her only calms her down a little. Its funny how a dog with good hearing and sense of smell would rely on their sight so much. |

| That surprises me because dogs will usually go by scent rather than appearance

| Lucy doesn't care either. Sunglasses; hair up; hair down; no make-up; she still knows it's me. Goodness - if she only liked me when I had make-up on . . . she'd be one unhappy pup! Hopefully you have this under control.

| Some dogs are very sight driven. I have noticed when walking Hans that if my Husbands car was parked in a different place in our driveway, Hans would immediately turn around and want to go back in. If there was ANYTHING out of place in our front yard...he would turn around and want to go back in. He would then go to the back door and ask to go out. By the same token, if anything was out of place in our backyard i.e. patio furniture moved around, BBQ lid up, garden hose out...you could forget about him going outside. It took him over a year to get pass this and sometimes he still does it. That having been said, it does sound like it could be a medical condition. They get gas and cramps at times too. | As long as your dog returns to normal, wouldn't worry about it. If it keeps up, get vet check and if all okay physically, start behavior modification training - it works wonders on most behavior problems. It is work but you and your dog will so enjoy it and the rewards are the best dog in the world. There are many articles here and online and in the petstore about behavior modification training.

| I agree with this and once when a member ended up having a dog with sudden aggression it ended up having a brain tumor. I dont want to scare you but it is a possibility so I have to tell you
