| Need to know about belly bands Hello... I answered an ad on Craigslist today about a 3yr old, 5lb yorkie. He is not neutered. I have had him for only 2 hrs & so far, he has hiked his leg on everything!! I figured that since he wasn't neutered & I have 4 other yorkies, that he would mark his territory. I have made him a little make-shift belly band until I can get to the store to buy one. I have never used one before, so I am not sure how long I should leave it on. Of coarse, I will take it off when he goes outside with the others, but my other dogs also use their pee pad. When he went over to smell the pad, he wanted to pee, but has the belly band on, poor thing!! I'm not really sure how long I should leave it on, or even how to use one properly. HELP!!

| belly bands hi hun, i am the lady who has been making my boys belly bands for several years-dont know if you can buy them ?-anyhow if you search through my posts you will find my instructions to another lady on there explaining all you need to make your own belly bands very quickly. as to your little boy,of course he is going to pee where the others have `been`!! they will always `mark` their territory to try to keep an `upper hand` above the rest!using the belly band is quite simple too -(and yes! he will forget he has one on and pee anyway) you have to let him and your others out together regularly till they all get the idea they are good to do it outside-i always found if you are waiting for them to come back in have a special treat for each one and loads of praise. i have never yet met a yorkie who doesnt act on-and love his praise! hope this helps get in touch if i can help further.good luck |

| I have used belly bands for my Romeo. My only boy. Even though he is fixed he still marks. He still had his hormones. Romeo wares his "pants" while in the house. If he wets in them I change them right away. Of course, as you said take them off when going outside. I say to him " let me put your pants on , or off and he walks right over to me so I can. He has no problem at all with his pants. I use a sanitary pad. (night time) in his pants. I never keep a wet pad in his pants, you would not want a skin infection or a rash. I have purchased them from the store but I have all of mine made by Bo ( Mom to Hot Rod ) she makes very nice, well made pants and she is fast and the best. Good Luck. if I can help further please pm me. I will be happy to help.
