| ![]() I got my 15 week old Yorkie when he was 9 weeks. When we got him, we used puppy pads because the weather was so cold and he was so small. Potty pads were hit or miss. Yesterday, we have started training to go outside to potty. We take him out when we wakes up, after naps, meals, playtimes, and any time he stiffs or circles. He stays in his small crate anytime we aren't playing with him. Yesterday, he did great. It did take a while for him to "go" when we took him out, but he eventually did the deed. This morning I took him out from 6:15-7:30, and he did not go at all. I put him back in his crate until 8:00, then he came out to eat/drink. I put him back in his crate for 15 minutes, then took him outside for attempt # 2. I waited from 8:25-8:45. He still did not pee, but did poop. I had to get ready for a meeting so he went back in his crate. At 9:25 I took him out for attempt # 3. At 9:50, I had to leave so he went back into his crate. I got home at 11:30am. His crate was still clean. When I took him outside, we were out there for 30-45 minutes. An unleashed dog came over and jumped on my pup, literally scaring the pee out of him. So that was at 12:15ish. He hadn't peed since last night at 8:30pm!! It worries me that he is holding it so long. Any ideas or suggestions would be great! I don't know of I'm doing something wrong. HELP!! How often should he need to pee? I know he's just learning. It's only his 2nd day of going outside. But I don't want to make him hold it so long- but there was nothing I could do to get him to go. |

| ![]() There was a post like this a while back where someone thought their little guy was not peeing for long periods of time and it turned out he had a secret hiding spot! They are little and pee can easily dry up or go unnoticed. Are you positive he's not going in his crate? How big is the crate? If he's able to go to one corner and pee, and then lay in another corner, he could possibly be going in the crate. It just seems a little unusual for him not to be going for such a long time. There is simply no way. Jackson is a big guy (16lbs) and is 2.5yrs old and the longest he holds it is about 10hrs over night. During the day, it's about every 4-6hrs. I also remember it being hard to tell sometimes when he was smaller when he was actually going because he still squats most of the time to pee, so sometimes I'm still unsure of when he goes (though it's definitely more obvious now that he's older). He's also famous for doing 'walking pees' so he kind of moves forward in a squatting position while peeing, LOL.

| ![]() If you can't find a secret pee spot, might check with your vet to see if there is something you should be doing for him. Tibbe held his one time for 12 hrs. when it was raining really really hard and he just did not want to go out in it but he was already 3 yrs. at the time.

| ![]() Thanks for replying. His crate is small and has a big, white, fluffy pillow that fills the whole space. He has peed on it once when it was outside his crate and it was easy to notice the yellow spot on it. I take this pillow out and check it for pee spots, but there's nothing. I've thought maybe I'm missing when he pees outside but it always leaves wet hairs around his weewee so I check that if I'm not sure. I just don't know!! He peed last around 12:30 and hasn't went since. |

| ![]() Jilly- we just started taking him outside yesterday. If he was still confined to the bathroom he'd surely be peeing all over the place. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() When you take him outside...be sure to go with him and walk around. It stimulates them to go. Somehow I really don't think at his age...he's holding it, especially given the fact he was trained to pads. Pads means they have never learned to hold it.
