| ![]() My 9 month old male yorkie will not go potty outside. I will take him for a walk after he eats or naps when I know he has to go. He will not pee or poop outside. We got him when he was 5 months old and had never been taken outside to go. This is our 4th Yorkie and I have never seen or heard of a dog that will not go to the bathroom outside. We will walk for 15-20 minutes and the minute he walks in the house he does his business. Any suggestions? |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() Stay outside until he goes do no matter how long it takes. I just took in a 9 year old rescue that had never been outside about 2 weeks ago. She hasn't had an accident since the first day. The first couple of days i had to go outside with her and stand in one place with her until she went. She just stood there a lot not knowing what to do, but when she finally went I praised her and gave her a treat. Last sunday we woke up to snow and I stood outside for 35 minutes with her while it was snowing until she finally went. Its all about who can outlast who. If you know he has to go then stay out there until he does. Keep him on a leash and stay in one area where you want him to potty. Tell him to "potty" or whatever phrase you want to use and then just stand there. show him no attention until he does his stuff, then praise, treat, and go inside.
