| Bows: Getting your dog used to them? It seems like a battle between Layla and I when ever I want to put a bow in her hair. It was like this too with my former yorkie. How do I get her used to wearing bows? She's always trying to take them off. It's annoying! So yeah, how did you get your babies to actually be good when getting bows put on and not pawing them off once they're on. Thankies

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think it easier to use just a band at first, and get them use to that. Make sure it's not too tight, and always have some room between the band and the scalp. Next graduate to puppy bows and they are a single loop, after a few weeks, you can try a regular bow. Go slowly, and a small treat after grooming is helpful. This website has some tips. Donating YT 10K Club Member | Agree with Nancy....get her used to having her hair up in a band first. I'd also suggest putting it up every day.

| Teddi has worn a bow/pony since I first got her. It's just like people always ask my sister how she used to get her kids to keep hats on and she said you have to "hat train" them when they are little before they figure out they can take the hat off and then it's second nature to them. I think it's the same with bows. You can't wait and do it later....they won't keep them on then.

| I brought Jesse home at 2 years old. The former owner kept his hair shorter and he never wore bows. I let his hair grow out, and has soon has it was long enough I started putting in bands. Jesse hated it at fist, every time he would rub his head on the rug trying to get it out. I kept putting in bands, and he eventually got use to it! He wears some sort of band, bow or scrunchie everyday without any problems

| Make sure the band isn't too tight. If you have a rat tail comb, push it through the "pouf" sideways to loosen it. It also really helps to distract then with a bully stick, etc. Before long she will get used to wearing a topknot and then you can add a bow! |

Start with just a band...even if only for an hour or so...gradually leave it on longer and longer, then graduate to a light weight accessories attached to the hair and band,...always supervise the little ones with hair accessories - even just a band - as they can choke on them. Gracie and Carly always have their top knot banded - it's now a natural extension of them (they prefer it, don't like their hair in their eyes). I only put on the bows when we go out of house.
