| Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | So while I was at work yesterday my mum was looking after Poppy, she said she only had one accident. Which is progress I guess hehe. ![]() So last night she did well in her crate and didnt cry through the night, she started to cry at around 8am this morning so we went straight outside where she peed and pooped. ![]() Very proud of my little girl! How long did it take for your baby to be house broken?

| No Longer a Member | Not going to say Rizzo is totally housebroken, but he is now 10 months old, and we haven't had an accident in the house or in his crate in...I think at least 2 months. I take him out every 2-3 hours when I'm home, and he stays in my kitchen with a pee pad while I'm at work just in case. Sometimes when I get home during the lunch hour the pad will still be clean though when I get home from work at the end of the day it'll be used...weird since there is a shorter gap from lunch to off work time??? Probably because he runs around like crazy and drinks a bunch of water when I lock him back up after lunch. So I'd say it took about 6 months of constant work to get him housetrained |

Im hoping she will catch on quickly but I know it could take a long time. I know a lady who has a bernese mountain and she had him trained within 24hours I will choose not to believe her or I will be eaten up with jelousy hehe. ![]()

| No Longer a Member | I had a lab/shephard mix that was trained in a day as well...I adopted him from the pound and we had one poo incident and one pee incident. I scolded him and put him outside to show that was where he was supposed to go and from then on he was great. Then again he has so far been the easiest dog to train in every aspect, I even taught him to do backflips! lol, my mom hated it when I had the 70lb dog do a backflip in her house :P Some dogs seem to be much more receptive to training than others, and I think that because Max was a pound puppy he was more willing to please his family that saved him, but who knows? And I've had a setback on the potty training I must have forgotten to put his belly band on him, I went to the bathroom and when I came out I smelled that "smell" bleh, I found the puddle in my bedroom. I would assume that it was marking, but with the quantity of the pee it just looks like he was relieving himself. Frustrating, but I guess I still cant trust him to be alone for 5 minutes...I was hoping that I'd finally be able to give him at least half of the house to run around in while at work, but guess not. He is great with his pee pads, but for some reason he decided that my bedroom is also a potty. I've never had pee pads in there and the only reason for him to be in there was for bed, since that is where I keep his crate. Maybe I'll put a pad down in my bedroom too??? gah, so frustrated, I'm doing something wrong so I need to figure that out. |

| No Longer a Member | Congrats!! With the cat, I just kept him from the part of the house that he has decided was "his" and there were no "accidents" when I got home, so maybe that'll be that, until at least I find this rescue kitten a new home...but then again he did this before she came along. Ugh! Cats, such tricky little creatures, maybe now that he knows I'm on to him he'll stop. |
