![]() Max did fine until one day he whined a little bit longer than I could handle and I introduced him to my bed for ten minutes to calm him down.

| I am feeling your pain right now. Really. Fynn was like that, though he'd have stress diarrhea MAJOR instead of cry. So, he sleeps in my bed. The first week, he slept from 11-6 NO PROBLEM. The second week, 11-4.30. Now, 11-whenever he wants to get up. It's driving me crazy. I can't put him in his crate because he'll just have the poopies over and over and over again. EVEN when he's empty. So, he just sleeps in my bed. It works for the both of us - most of the time. Good luck, though! I hope things go well and you figure something out.

| I decided to elevate his kennel so that is level with the bed. My face was literally right next to his. He whined a little bit, for about a half hour and then went to bed. He woke up whining at 3am and I took him potty. When I put him back in his kennel he whined for 1/2 hour and back to bed. At 6am I took him potty again but this time he was miserable in the kennel, I assume because he was ready to get up. I did not put him in the bed and just got up at 6:30. I want Max in the bed eventually, but just feel he's too small for safety. On a sidenote: Cooper now rings the potty bell that we keep in the bedroom so that we take Max out of the kennel. Cooper is smart. I believe he associates the potty bell with "out" or "freedom". He kept continually ringing it and then walking to Max's kennel and scratching it and barking at it.

Fynnlie sleeps in his BED which is on my bed. Whatever, as long as he's happy and we both get to sleep. So far, so good. No accidents in the bed!

lol. No, really it worked for Bella. She was comforted to be able to see me. I put her crate on a wooden tv table right beside me on the bed. Even putting my hand inside the crate to soothe her. She would snuggle as close as she could get to my hand & off to sleep all night!Of course, now 3 yrs later she snuggles as close as possible to me on the Bed...haha

and pee on the carpet.Well, if you ask me I think Max is doing a great job in training you...loll Hang in there try to see if you can take naps with them during the day or when ever you can. Over all it sounds like your all doing great and it's so nice to almost hear your exhausted voice of happiness. ![]() Best Wishes

| Sounds like Piper and why she now sleeps with me. I tried her sleeping with me one night out of desperation because I was exhausted. She actually slept the entire night (if getting up at 6 is the entire night....but I am ok with that time). As far as her falling off. I am a very light sleeper so I put her on the inside of me and normal feel if she moves. I have also at times but on a mesh step in harness and a leash and but the leash on my wrist- again I'm a light sleeper so if she goes too far I walk up. While I'm not the biggest fan of dogs sleeping in bed with me, I needed sleep and this has worked for me. |

Interesting idea about the leash and harness. I'll give that some thought.

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Awww... Cooper is looking out for his brother! I was never big on letting dogs sleep in beds. But while my husband was out of town, I let Rhett sleep in there with me out of pure sleep deprived desperation. It was the first time he slept through the night and he's been there ever since. He was just about 5 months at the time and big enough that I could feel him if he started to get restless. Hopefully Scarlett will put on enough weight that we'll be able to add her in the mix soon, too. I had babies sleeping through the night sooner than these furbutts

| Elevating the kennel has helped dramatically! ![]() Last night he went right to bed at 10:30pm. He whined 5 minutes. He whined at 4am, he went potty and I put him back in the kennel. He whined for 5 minutes and back to sleep! He then whined at 6:30. At that point, there's just no hope because he's ready to get up.

| I feel for you and it makes me laugh because it reminds me of when I first got Keoki- I told everyone " He is going to sleep in a crate " - so when I got him and he cried and cried and cried I couldn't take it - lol- I had my mom crate train him for me when I went away ( because I couldn't stand his cries)- needless to say he wound up in my bed with pillows all around the floor in case he fell but he was 4 pounds when I got him- then I got him stairs. I finally wound up just keeping him in the crate when I would leave the house. Ahhhhh little Max is being a stinker just like Keoki! Don't worry baby Max- you will be in bed with Mommy in no time Last edited by keokis mom; 08-25-2010 at 06:30 PM. |
