| Pooping when we Leave We brought Dharma home last Saturday (6/19). She is doing BEAUTIFULLY with housetraining. She has very few accidents in the house and she is already giving us signals she needs to go out. It has been less then 2 weeks. Our concern is when we leave...We take her out and make sure she has went to the bathroom. We have a small clock radio that we leave on next to her crate. We leave without making a big deal, and when we come home, we find that she pooped in her crate. She sleeps in her crate beautifully throughout the day and through the night and goes in her crate willingly so it makes me feel that she is pooping in her crate when we are gone due to nerves. So my question is what can we do? We haven't left her longer then a total of an hour and a half. One time we left her for 15 min and came home and she pooped in her crate. She doesn't ever do it when we are home. If she does have an accident, it is on the carpet, not in her crate. Are we leaving her too soon? She is 14 weeks old today. Any advice you have would be helpful :-)

| it may be nerves and/or age..not sure can you pretend to leave and hide out and see what she does? or setup a video camera?

| I agree with RDB911, the problem is probably nerves, anxiety about being left alone. Another possibility is that your pups thinks if she poops, it will bring mommy back. I brought my second Yorkie, Teddy, home when he was almost 8 months and he did the same thing -- he would poop minutes after being left alone. It was either anxiety or he thought it would bring me back, or both. He is pad trained, so it wasn't a big deal, except my older boy would get upset that no one was around to take care of the poopies right away. I think it took about 3 - 4 weeks until Teddy stopped. Maturing and gaining weight helped, in addition to settling into his new life in his new home. The only thing I can suggest is putting your pup in her crate and pretend to leave 15 -20 minutes before you really need to leave the house and check to see if she poops. |

| Lol despite being 80% potty trained mine will still pee & poop at the entrance of her playpen when we leave her. It's like " mom you leave me, I'm makin a mess . Hahhaha" I think it's something that will go away once they are potty trained enough to not be grated/crated.

| So, yesterday my fiance went and sat outside for 10 min intervals while Dharma was inside. She did well. Today we walked around the block for 5 min and when we got back she was barking, but no poop. Then we went and checked the mail, and walked around the block. We got back, she was okay. We put my fiance's undershirt in her crate and DROVE down the street and back for a total of 5 min. She was fine. So then we filled her kong toy up with her food and drove to the grocery store. We were gone a total of 20 min. She didn't poop...but she peed. We took her out and she didn't go potty. We brought her in and 5 min later she was standing by the door, so we took her out and she went poopy!! Is this progress?! lol She peed in her crate while we were gone, but she didn't poop! lol We leave the radio on for her also. Thanks again for your help!!

| My Amy is 3 and she will mess in hers when we leave her sometimes. We rescued her when she was 6 months old from people that kept her locked in a garage so she has separation anxiety issues even still. |

I'm hoping Dharma grows out of it once she is comfortable and secure and grows a little more. I got excited early. She did well Saturday, but I left for less then an hour yesterday while my fiance was at work, and I came back and she pooped while I was gone! I know she came from a fantastic breeder so I'm hoping she can outgrow it! She is coming along great!

| We have the smallest wire crate from PetSmart and we have the divider in it. She is super tiny though. Usually she will poop and then cover it up with the blanket.
