Yorkie Yakker | 6 month puppy biting I was reading all the posts about biting and it seems that most of the puppys are 4 months are less. My puppy is 6 months and still continues to bite on peoples feet or fingers. I've tried everything. Spraying with a water bottle, yelping when he bites, and distracting him but none of it really works. Eventually he goes back to it again. Can someone please give me some tips? Also i read that sometimes they grow out of it. Do they usually grow out of it by 6 months? |

| Mimi is about 5 months old and still bites when she is playing or just gets excited. I tried the yelping with her and she looked at me an bit again. Now she knows a harsh "uh uh" and stops. "Uh uh" seems to work for anything that she does wrong. Hope this helps you.

| Most will grow out of it. Some do not. My Corso was a nipper when he was a pup. It took him about 3 weeks to get the message that it was not tolerated. Now at 3 months old he was already 35 pounds and had Iron Jaws. I would not suggest you do to a Yorkie what I did to him ..... Our Yorkie would nip if the door bell rang. It took us a lot of rings and patience to stop her from charging and attacking your ankle. Fortunately, I got to ring the bell, and my wife had to deal with the wrath of Max. She still gets fired up when the bell rings., but no longer bits. Correct, praise, repeat. I never have trained with treats.... |

| I have stuck with a loud ouch with Isabella. She started with her teeth on my hands every time I pet her when she was about 5 months old. It has been a long road, but she is catching on...it is SO much less frequent now. I say ouch when she bites at my hand and praise the heck out of her when she licks...she is catching on..finally! She is now one year old! So....hang in there! There is hope.
