| I have considered it and we do have a small crate but I don't think it would be fair for him to be locked up when Speedy (our shichon) isn't. Speedy is always checking on him to see where he is and what he's doing. Plus my husband doesn't like to crate them. I have thought about an exercise pen. Not sure Speedy would care for Toby being in there and her not being in there. I don't want to sound stupid but is an exercise pen simply a small baby pen? If not, any links to websites or store that carry exercise pens?

| You can use whatever, but pet stores sell the metal gate types for $60 or so. Baby gates are cheaper I believe. Crating is not cruel. Scruffs loves his crate. He sleeps in there, eats chew toys in there, and goes in when I say "crate." He isn't sad when I leave, he just sleeps and I know he is safe. Sometimes when I pet sit I leave the other dog out in my room if the owner doesn't bring a crate, and Scruffs is fine.
