HELP!! Yorkie puppy uses bathroom in crate -- ALL THE TIME!

It cant be because her bladder is so small, becuase she will sleep in her bed(couch bed thingy) for a few hours, or sleep with me for several hours also and she dont pee, and I have made it so small of an area ,then I have taken the cushion and blankets out so she wont pee in it . we were letting her lay on blankets so it wouldnt wet the cushion,but I dont know what to do! please please tell me it will get better, because the thing I feared for so long about getting a dog, is that I wouldn't be able to deal with it and I would break my kids heart and get rid of it, but I do love her, so I dont want to do that..but Im tired already !

Shes probably scared. 8 weeks is really young to be away from its mom already. Have you tried an exercise pen instead of a crate? Maybe she will feel more comfortable in one of those. Capone hates his crate so I use the pen instead and have no problems. Good luck.

Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Please be patient with your little girl. She was taken away from her mother and siblings much too young. Puppies that young do much better if they are in a x-pen where they are not confined in a small crate. Things will get better as she gets older. Just remember yorkies are a huge responsibility and it is like having another child. How old are your children?

The first problem is she is way to young. If you got her at Christmas she wasn't much more than 6 weeks. Yorkies need to stay with mom for atleast 10-12 weeks. I keep mine 12 weeks. What breeder did you get her from?

I have a xpen set up with a crate on one end with their bed. They are 8 weeks and they go out of the bed area and use the pads. You can get an xpen at Pets Supplies Plus. They are on the left as you walk in the door. I think this will help you alot.

You also have to prepare yourself... some puppies it takes a long time to train. Some may not ever be 100% trained. Your baby is so young I would not expect her to understand.

We recently got two yorkies, a boy and a girl (Charlie and Maisy) and Maisy is so stubborn! Let me give you some background on what we already do.

They are both 5 months old. We feed them Nature Valley puppy food twice a day... at 6am and at about 8pm every day. We do not leave water in the crate when we are gone.

In the morning we feed them and once they are done we take them outside and Charlie always poops and pees. Maisy on the other hand will take half an hour to do anything. Yet, if we don't take them out right away after they eat... she poops and pees right away in the crate.

Then we leave the house for 4 hours, during those 4 hours they both poop in their crate but Maisy poops and pees (of course).

PS: They are both in separate small crates.

So Charlie does a great job on holding his pee but we are having no luck with Maisy... Also whenever we take them outside Maisy never concentrates on going potty and we keep her on a leash to keep her in the same spot where she always goes but it still takes her FOREVER.

I think it would help if we had a backyard but we live in a town home so all we have is outside our front door. So please any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
