| litterbox training dilemma I'm new here and I've had my yorkie for almost 2 months. We live in an apartment and have harsh winters here so I thought it would be best to litterbox train. He pees in it ALL the time but won't poop in it all the time...only sometimes...does this take more time or is he being stubborn? When I see him looking for a place to "go" I move him to his box but sometimes he will move from his box and poo on the floor...anyone have any input?? Presley just turned 4 months old by the way |

| Congratulations on your new Yorkie. He still sounds quite young. Sydney's vet said not to trust her until at least a year old. I would suggest using a set schedule for feeding and watering. In between times, you might want to try crate training and not giving him full run of the house. When you play with him, keep him in a bare floor area such as the kitchen. I really like the book, "How to House Train Your Dog in Seven Days." After reading that book, I understood the ease and necessity of having a strict schedule and a crate. I can almost set my watch to Sydney's bowl movements. If you put your pup on in the litter box and he doesn't do his business when you know he should be going, try for ten minutes and then put him in his crate. Try again in 15 minutes. This is so your pup doesn't become stressed. Let us know how it goes. |

I agree. If you don't have the largest one made for dogs, then I'd get it and try it. The pads should lay flat in it. It's by Purina and they sell it at Petco and Petsmart. It comes in 3 sizes so make sure it's the large one. That will give him more room. Presley is a very cute name too
