| Layla is Protective Our young pup (6 months) Layla will bark at most anyone that comes into my girlfriends apartment. Her mother she is fine with, as well as my parents and siblings, but our friends or most anyone else she will growl and bark while jumping around defensively. If they pick her up she is fine. No barking, no biting. But if she is on the ground she will bark at their feet, and if they move she will nip (she won't bite but she'll pounce and put her teeth on them) I don't know what to do. I could try using pennies in a can, but I don't know if that will take care of the aggressiveness. Help! |

| It sounds to me like she might be a bit nervous around new people since she's good with people she knows and this nervousness comes out as aggression What you can do is borrow a good friend (Bribe them with lunch or something) have them come over and tell them to ignore the dog also give them a handful of treats when they come in and the dog goes to bark just tell your friend to indiscriminately start dropping treats every once in a while this will occupy her and she will eventually get the idea that strangers aren't something to be afraid of
