| Smokie did something very special today Hello again! Lately we have been talking about Smokie's seperation anxiety. Well, until today, he would not even go out in the yard alone. We have a nice deck with a small, but perfect for Smokie sized chain link yard with lots of shade. Today for the first time, Smokie went outside alone and stayed outside content, rolling in the grass, playing with his toys, was laying in a nice cool spot in the shade.....he was easily outside on his own for an hour. I was so impressed and gave him lots of praise and a treat or two. This was a huge step towards his security. Before I would try, but no way, if I wasn't coming with he wasn't going. Well I just had to share that exciting news. Plus I always have fresh water for him outside. Thanks for reading this and sharing Smokie's first big baby step with me! Reva - Smokie's Mama |

| That's great that Smokie is getting better with his anxiety! But a word of caution. Never leave a yorkie outside by themselves! When I had Buddy, four years ago an owl almost got him!! Then last year we were out side and a hawk stalked Buddy for about a week! Thankfully Buddy was always at my feet. |

| Trust me, I'm watching him whenever he is outside. We have hawks here, but they don't come around here much since there is so much people activity. Then Smokie will bark like crazy at a leaf falling from the tree. I still go outside with him, because I love to be outside, but its nice to know if he needs to go, he can go alone if I am not able to go with him at the moment. That way he doesn't have to wait on me to go potty. But he is never farther than a window away! Tomorrow is his first day to go to the groomer's. We shall see how that goes. I'll let you know. I'm sure it will be nothing short of interesting! LOL. He's going to be so mad at me. But he will be so handsome when he comes home. Thanks for all the congrats! Have a blessed day! Reva, Smokie's mom. |

| His First Grooming Well, he didn't do too bad all things considered. She said he was very nervous, but considering his separation anxiety from me, and his first time at the groomer's, I'm sure he wasn't liking it. I did make an appt for 6 wks. Its nice to see his face, and next time I'm going to send one of my tshirts with him that hasn't been washed yet - as was suggested to me here. Time, patience, and love. But he sure knew when we got home. He came in the house, just running! Jumped on the bed - and just starred at his treat drawer. Then he went outside to potty. I guess he figured after that ordeal he deserved a treat first! LOL. Also, this lady groomed by grandmother's dog for years, and we know her well. She won't force a dog. She is kind, and patient. I believe in time he will do well with here. Also, I'm thinking of talking to the vet about his anxiety issues. They are not getting any better. If anything, they are getting worse. I hate to see him be so upset. He will still go outside by himself, but he much prefers mom goes with him. Thanks for being such a great bunch of folks, for listening, and caring!
