| YT 500 Club Member | Dont have a clue why they choose her methods over his. Probably trying to prove there far to sophisticated for common sence approach to dog ownership. Your not even supposed to tell your kids off for misbehaving over here, the little dears are just expressing their individuallity when they tare your home apart or beat up some stranger in the street. Explains why we've got gangs of youths beating people up in the street and making decent peoples lives hell. You really have to live over here to understand whats going on. Of course this is also the country where a police officer leaves his dogs to die in the car and gives people involved in dog fighting or other forms of animal cruelty a slap on the wrist. |

Dog Whisperer: Cesar Millan the new parenting guru -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com It's an article that Cesar himself has nothing to do with but parents saying they even learn lessons for their kids in the show. "Unlike modern parents," she added, "dog trainers don't think discipline equals being mean. They understand that dogs are happiest when they know their position in the hierarchy." Hranek said that some parents he knows "do not allow the word `no' to be said around the house. How absurd is that?" "When you're wishy-washy with dogs, they take advantage — `He didn't mean don't eat that biscuit,"' Hranek said. "Kids think the same way."

We all know that you don't like him. But when you post things like that you'd better be able to prove it. Maybe a search of court records would pull up his name. Or maybe it is all just hearsay. | |

| YT 500 Club Member | Many people and animals in this country are suffering from the effects of people who are overly politically correct, or as we like to call them, THE FLUFFY BUNNY BRIGADE. All I know is I've used Ceasers methods to good effect. I have never hit my two dogs, but using his belief in possitive thinking and calm assertive behaviour it has changed or should I say reminded me how to treat a dog like a dog. I was too soft on my previous dogs, treating them like babies, refusing to see problems and paid the price for it. Its true acting calm and assertive changes you alot. People actually listen to you. there is no need to shout to get your point of veiw across, people treat you with respect. I know this as I used to be the meekest kind of person who let others control me and my life, now I control it, I respect others right to have a different opinion to me but I dont let them force that opinion on me, and thats all down to Cm methods. Every trainer will have some dogs react differently or unexpectidly, the measure is in how they learn from those incidents instead of walking away and saying its the owners fault for not adhering to their methods. |

I do think that in regards to kids today, parents want too much to be their child's "best friend" but that's not always in the best interest of the child. I'm not saying you can't be close to your children or be a friend to them, but be a parent first, friend second. People are so afraid of discipline nowadays and kids rule the roost. It's what Cesar basically says about dogs... he doesn't disagree with allowing them on your bed, or being part of your family, or treating them as a child... as long as you take care of your responsibility as their owner/pack leader first, then all is good and all that "fun stuff" can come second. Another thing, regarding the whole "dogs don't have pack leaders" thing and it's been "scientifically disproven". Not everything has to be about science, first off. And maybe the term pack leader has been over-used but in my opinion, it simply means you need to be your dogs leader... plain and simple. No science about it. I just don't see how people can argue that you shouldn't be in control of your dogs, OR children for that matter. When I see a child running through a store, pulling things off shelves, etc, it all falls back on the parent in my opinion because 90% of the time, the kids doing these things... are NOT being disciplined for them! Which just blows my mind. Same thing, if I see an out of control dog... the owners of the out of control dogs are usually the ones not doing anything about it.
